Not a direct comparison to both as far as playing style, but Billups and Conley would be really good careers to track in comparison to D'Lo. I'm a tad too young to remember Billups early, but Conley got criticized VERY similarly to what D'Lo is getting now (passive, not athletic, etc).

Why are y'all comparing D'Lo who was drafted in the double digits (sans Dirk) to top 3 selections. You guys know there's different expectations when you're selected that high. You think Bennett would be as big of a bust if he was drafted 15 instead of number 1? C'mon now.

Next year we gonna chase Ingram outta town at age 20 cuz he doesn't bark like a ******* dog after getting his shot blocked?

We tanked so we could chop these kids heads off after a year and a half?

That's some stupid, stupid, stupid logic. And best part about it all, DLo's numbers stack up quite well, and we all know he can still play better, so why the trippin?

People critizing his "hustle" his eyebrows, his "nonchalant" Man, that's all made up BS. That's ESPN speak right there.

He's proven to run the offense better than anyone else. He can shoot, well. He can pass absurdly well. He can post up. He has game, but he needs to develop his game further, no doubt. That comes with time and effort, and he puts in both. He studies the game, he works hard, and he WANTS to lead.

Let his 20 year old game develop to 24 year old game.

Next year we're gonna be reading scathing takes on Ingram and another stud rookie (maybe) for no real reason. And when that happens DLo will still only be 21.

Billups was super clutch. He had a knack for taking the big shot and he was FEARLESS and HARD NOSED...two qualities DLo severely lacks imo.

Conley on the other hand is much much quicker than DLo and can penetrate the lane. He's sneaky athletic and is one of the best defenders at the PG position. Again, these are skills DLol doesn't possess. 

And it took close to four years for Conley to be anywhere close to what he is now.

And while Billups had his clutch moments, it is very similar to Kobe where we remember the made shots but ignore the ones he missed. And he missed a lot.

I don't think he's proven to shoot well at all so far. He can make some nice passes but also makes as many stupid ones. He's proven to be able to run as a lead guard but not be an effective floor general at this point. But he has time to improve on all those aspects for sure.

And Conley didn't even become decent at leading an offense until his third year. Although from day one he is a superior defender compared to DLo.

Nobody said bark like a dog. When DRose or whoever else rejects your weak shot, have the fight to run back, challenge your man, lock up, show some aggression. That's always been "a thing" and it's why GMs interview draftees to learn about their motor and personality and what makes them tick. It's more than just numbers and stats

Maybe I am mis-remembering, but Conley wasn't good to begin his career on defense (short, weak, young) and didn't carry the nuance we all know about him these days until things started to click his fourth year. Didn't really take advantage of his quickness advantage his first three years. Need the homie bhz to confirm.

Chauncey played for 4 different teams his first 3 years in the league. Totally different circumstances. Once he got to DET, the rest was history.

Reason Billups didn't "figure it out" right away was because dude played for 4 different teams his first 3 years. Billups was in one unstable environment after another til he got to Detroit. Therefore, you can't compare Chauncey's career progression with DLo's - two totally different situations.
