**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

No but becoming the #1 all time scorer in the history of the basketball whilst wearing a purple and gold jersey is monumental though.

You get a shot at a championship every year.

The history LeBron has been making in a laker jersey since he got here is invaluable to our franchise and basketball in general.

purple & gold = greatness

3 of the 4 years have been disasters though, we haven't been in chip contention. If he was a Laker lifer, yea these milestones would mean a bit more, but he's moreso just using the brand to help elevate himself. He's aged to the point where he can't carry a team anymore without another top 10 talent consistently being on the floor. I don't think Bron getting traded especially if he asks for it is going to be some type of black eye.

Yeah that doesn't so much matter.

We all know that. Problem?
He's aged to the point where he can't carry a team anymore without another top 10 talent consistently being on the floor.
So he has been reduced to the exact same existence of every single NBA superstar who has ever won a championship ever?

-foe

Yr 1 - not a championship roster
Yr 2 - Title
Yr 3 - Championship contender but injuries
Yr 4 - Bad

Somehow this is a disaster?

Trying to think of any max free agents who left teams and delivered a championship during the length of their original contract. Besides KD w/ the Warriors I’m drawing a blank

Considering he went to 10 straight Finals before coming here and we've outright missed the playoffs 2 years and then got blown off the floor w/o AD. It's by his own high bar that was set. Yes he helped to deliver a chip, but the return on investment hasn't been stellar all It's built up to be. Just my opinion.

4 seasons of lebby legend + chip > 10 years of mediocrity with ingram, lonzo ball, and karl guzman

Why does it have to be one extreme or the other? Trade Lebron now, get assets before he gets a major old man injury. We won’t win a chip with our best player being 38.

Who’s to say the next group of lottery picks we make won’t be Luka/Tatum level instead of DSlo and Big Baller Bust

And who’s to say AD + what we get for Russ + what we get for Lebron won’t be enough to make us contenders? Stack up assets and players and acquire the next star ie Beal or whoever

Roi is different in sports than real life

For the clippers the ROI on George and kawhi is worth it even if they don’t win a title. They became relevant and respected. That’s their title.

The ROI for lakers is worth it (it’s binary, either yes or no). They won a title. End of discussion with them.

ROI for rams was worth it bc they won a title and became relevant in a town they were gone from for years.

The ROI for the 76ers this year is a title or it failed. Especially after the debacle and circus or Simmons. ROI for nets with the harden trade is a title or nothing also since they gave up so much for harden.
So on and so forth.

Clippers find success going “small” with a bunch of wings

Rob says “ohhh that’s the future of the nba. Let me try. I’ll go and get 15 guards 6’2 and below”

Bruh treating Lebron like he a scrub that’s just gon get traded at anytime

This ain’t 2k

Also, I love seeing rookies and second year players playing big roles for playoff teams

Eye was told at the start of the season to stop crying about giving up our 22nd pick for shiitbrick since “rookies don’t play for title teams anyways”

Guess we should trade all our future picks and instead sign 38 year old former all stars

Blew a double digit 4th quarter lead at home to a bunch of kids and a rookie head coach.

Not his fault his players couldn’t make layups. He put them in the right spots down 2 superstars

Vogel woulda gone to the mid court. Pulled down his pant and laid a big steaming dump on the court

Podcaster: "6-7 months ago, this team was the Western Conference favorites."

Lol

No they weren't, not after they started the preseason a blistering 0-6 then proceeded to start the regular season like 2-5.

At no point was this fk'n team ever "western conference favorites" unless you talkin bout ON PAPER. Lol

1. We are not trading LeBron. Period. Even if you wanted to, we wouldn't get anything in return seeing as he will be a free agent after next season.

2. What lottery picks are you talking about? The pelicans own all of our picks until 2025 so even if we suck, we're not going to have anything to show for it.

3. If we trade Russ,we're not getting positive assets. We're going to get junk

They don't own them all. They just have the right to swap the 24 or 25 pick.
