and this is apple we are talking about. Just look at their macbook line up. Using outdated technology but still charge 2x the price of the industry standard.

things only depreciates in value only if there is new technology on the table. This generations ipad might be 400 bucks down the line but apple retains their profit margins. In the end their mark up is still super inflated and certainly not cheap.

my first ipod was a 3rd gen, the 60gb was 600 but that was msrp and them things would not move out of the selves. a couple of months later the price dropped significantly.
the ipad is a different hype machine, i dont see prices dropping. apple is good at getting rid of old models asap.

As far as it concerns their core functionality ( phone/ mp3 player) the iphone/itouch aren't "wow" at all.

The iPad actually looks worthwhile. It has Apple's profit margin built in which is the only problem.
