but the grey ones, kind of hard to really tell that the upper is different because it's too tonal, looks like there's some new texture but it's just not clear enough

Damn! I'm a 9.5 in the Zoom Fly so this is tempting, but I believe you're supposed to go .5 down since these run kind of big.

I have 2x in 4%: TTS and .5 down.

Yes in my experience TTS runs big. However, if you run with thicker socks - like the Nike Elite Cushioned Running Socks - TTS will be totally fine.

The older versions have the diamond pattern on the sole, while the 2018s have the large white strip. I have both and the are identical in performance it’s just the 2018s look dirtier after use because of that stupid white strip. Zappos has a wide selection as well, often discounted ($8-10 range compared to Nike’s $16 full price).

These are prototypes being tested by Nike’s professional track athletes. There are no product names right now. It’s likely that we’ll see these in time for 2020 as new spikes usually coincide with an Olympic year.
