What's the point of a playoff to determine the national champion if you pre-seed 2 teams from the same conference in the top 10 and then reward them for not playing anyone else and only losing to each other?

Why don't we just pick 4 SEC teams then?
Ppl just don’t wanna be honest that the whole system is dumb, cuz they support teams in those conferences that might have a chance...We all know what the set up is with the “rankings”, nothin to be surprised or mad about at this point ...It ain’t even a real playoff from the jump

What do you think the expectations are now and what should they be?

An 8 win program who occasionally competes for the conference and title. Those are definitely not the expectations. They think they should be an elite.

I just realized the Pac 12 is forcing their only unbeaten team to play on a short week (and to play 3 different games in 13 total days) against a team coming off a bye.

congrats on being Pac 12 champs elpablo21 elpablo21 651akathepaul 651akathepaul :smh:

Dan Mullen is Dabo-level stupid.
He’s been on tilt since begging for the admin to let them pack the swamp. Shots at OSU and bragging about how many yards they had at halftime yesterday while they were down were gold.

Dan Mullen is Dabo-level stupid.

Not trying to be a contrarian, and I don't have the context of the rest of his quote and what he said before, but is it possible this is just him trying to protect his player from national ridicule and hate from an unhinged fan base?

It won't work, but maybe this is a "good guy Dan" moment? Dabo would have taken the easy out and thrown the kid under the bus.

Oregon and CU are set to play at the coliseum on Saturday, but the PAC wants Oregon in town in case UW can't go.

So... SC has to prep for UW and UO, and UO has to prep for CU and SC...

Nice.

"An Ohio State loss would give USC a 74% chance to reach the CFP, slightly better than a Clemson loss (73%) or Alabama loss (70%). By itself, a win on Friday gives USC a 67% chance of making the CFP."

They can tell all the lies they want about our playoffs chances, as long as this article and the selection show Tuesday help us out on Wednesday. Signing day is all that matters, then we can get back on schedule to getting clapped by UW and Iowa again.

 How ESPN calculates these odds is baffling.

USC has zero chance of jumping 11 slots of a squeak-by win over a nothing-better-than-OK UCLA team and a win next week over a crummy Washington bunch.

As long as the lie helps recruiting they can calculate it however they want.

Side note, all things considered, this aged great for all involved.

How are they recruiting this year? Haven't even paid attention to much out West.

A&M cut loose a couple of long-time 3* kids within the last week and told them numbers weren't gonna work out, so now everyone's expecting a huge close there, too.
