ThaxbyChamblis ThaxbyChamblis is it lying season yet?

Most definitely. We are in the 2nd quarter of #LyingSZN

Also RE: Duffy I'm surprised he pushed his commitment fate back but if he's truly still undecided then good on him for delaying it until he is sure (or at least as sure as a 17 year old kid can be about anything).

The coaches know more than I do but I would be concerned about landing 2 West/ West Coast QB's in the same class should Duffy decide on FSU (which I don't think he will). I think they're always a risk to bolt and head back closer to home esp at a position like QB where only one can play at a given time. Though it may be mitigated a bit by the fact that the other QB from out west is actually from Colorado not Az where he currently lives, I'll still be a bit concerned.

I’m not huge into HS knowledge, what do those bigger name gigs pay?

I mean base salary not all the side money from being a sleaze ball

Westlake and Lake Travis head coaching gigs are both north of $150k a year - and they're the only people on campus that don't have to teach classes.

I would guess Chad will top that at Allen.
Based on resources? Because in terms of talent, Aquinas is probably it IMO.
Resources. The structure of that school district. If their level of talent year in and out isn't the best in the country, it's in the Top 5 - they're loaded every year and they consistently have the highest level of football participation in the state. The kinda kid you're dealing with there is generally insanely low-maintenance.

They did just announce Morris, too. Wanted to be close to his kids at North Texas and TCU. Good for him. Good for Jimbo down at A&M, too. :pimp:

I was actually expecting more to be honest.

Bosco more than the top Texas HS coach. By a healthy margin too.

what are the top private schools in Texas for football? Is that even a thing?

They have to play in their own divisions down there which I think keeps them from overtaking the public schools, like what happens in most states.

Dallas Jesuit and Strake Jesuit are the only ones who got grandfathered in to the UIL.

So is Lincoln going to stop trying to block Chad’s kid from going to TCU, or is he going to give up trying to recruit from Allen ever again?

He's taking a weird stance of "in-conference transfers should be prohibited." Considering he got Baker from Texas Tech and, though different, absolutely raided the Tennessee fire sale... it's an odd hill to want to die on.

They don’t exist.

Private school athletics in Texas aren’t really a thing.

Houston Episcopal and John Paul II in Dallas are about it.

Like Bobby said - Jesuit is big but they only matter in baseball. All the rich football kids in Dallas go to Highland Park or buy a mailbox in Allen.

Won’t matter. Aggie Chad knows the deal. :pimp:

ESPN was having a debate on air over why all of the athletes this year are running faster than past years.

It's what spurred his thread. He's a football analytics guy.

dacomeup dacomeup Something that was pointed out to me today that relates to your question about why I complained so much about Larry Scott's nonsensical leadership:
Pac 12 in football:

Stanford - 4-2 - North Division wins leader
Washington - 3-1 - North Division regular season champion
Oregon - 3-2 - given championship game bid despite Stanford's availability and won Conference

(USC - 5-0 - forced to prepare for both UW and UO concurrently despite also having only 53 eligible players for the game due to covid)

Pac 12 in basketball:

USC - 25-8 (15-5 in conference) - conference win leader - beat Oregon -72-58 when they played in season
Colorado - 23-9 (14-6 in conference) - Split regular season 1-1 with Oregon
UCLA - 22-9 (13-6 in conference) - games against Oregon canceled due to a referee and players on the Oregon team testing positive for covid
Oregon - 21-7 (14-4 in conference) - Conference champion
