He'd already destroyed the Winterfell forces - if there was only an elf when he killed the first three-eyed raven, there was only a very weakened Theon when he went for Bran - he'd won.

It seems to me that instead of letting his wights take care of the three-eyed raven (both Bran and the dude before Bran), it's something he views as important enough to do himself. Winterfell was defeated - he'd literally just raised all of the dead again, there was no coming back from that. Waiting another hour wouldn't have made a difference because he didn't know that Arya was still alive.

there wasn't only theon obviously since someone else killed him

winterfell wasn't defeated everyone that mattered was still alive

it would've have made a difference she and everyone else would've been dead

it's doesn't make sense

The Ringer is an HBO website and they're literally asking these same questions

If you think about it, the WWs are weak af. All it takes is getting pierced by valyrian steel/dragonglass and they're washed.

But that's like saying vampires or werewolves are washed because all it takes is a wooden stake or silver...

Looks like Edd in the background

Most heartbreaking loss for me. **** had me hurt to start the episode.

Edd deserved to live to the ripe old age of 30 as Lord Commander of the Night's Watch.:smh:

At least vampires and werewolves are usually super strong and fast.
The Walkers are too..... they just didn't display it last week.
The NK threw a spear hundreds of yards and in the very first ep the walkers were naruto running through the woods to kill the nights watchmen.

Valyrian steel is hard to come by and dragonglass is too. Plus most people didn't believe in the WW's existence and those that did know about them had to find out their weaknesses the hard way. It took Sam and Jon to kill WW's with dragonglass and Valyrian steel respectively before they started to make a push to spread that knowledge. And even then, Jon had to potentially risk his life going to Dragonstone to treat with Daenerys to mine dragonglass out of there.

Please - every other "major character" was barely functioning and pretty much out of commission. Had any of them shown up, they would have been washed by a WW at the very least. Jon was at the point of yelling into Viserion's face and getting roasted alive - the fight was over.

So the only real threat to the NK at that point was Arya, who is a master assassin that hasn't been in the picture in Winterfell until only VERY recently, so he had no intelligence indicating he should expect her. There is no reason for him to suspect they were hiding an assassin of her caliber with level 100 sneak in the vicinity. When you've utterly destroyed Winterfell and there are only minor stragglers left, there's no reason to wait another hour and coordinate a detailed search unless you're expecting a high-level assassin, which, again, he had no reason to suspect.

And let's not argue like he just left himself completely unguarded - he was surrounded by hundreds of wights and was escorted by a group of White Walkers. You can't act like his plan was so fundamentally flawed because the show builds Arya up to such a skill-level that she is literally the only person in Westeros capable of sneaking past all of the wights and WWs to launch a jumping assassination attack. She is the 0.0001% factor that they didn't prepare for, perfectly suited to do a job literally no one else could have done. Now does that mean the show put her skills on too high of a pedestal? Maybe, but I think the NK's plan was solid and extremely well-executed.

I think we critiqued the episode to bits? Where do we see episode 4 going? I know there's gonna be some battle epilogue type **** going on but I hope it doesn't drag
