Since there is an appreciation post on him now, I'll say again -- His career parallels Shaq's so much to me. Kobe needed Shaq and then needed Gasol. Point blank, bottom line, PERIOD. Just because Gasol isn't one of the 2 best players in the league like Bron and Wade are, that means nothing. Gasol was ABSOLUTELY the best offensive player in the league last year, and he was actually my MVP of the Finals. We don't win last year without Gasol's major contributions.

And no, the Heat this year doesn't make Kobe's championship last year more impressive, because it's not like Kobe dominated the Celtics and that's why we won. Not at AAALLLL. Hell, Gasol and Artest bailed us out of some Kobe mistakes.

I dislike the Heat because they're Knick rivals but I hate all the idiots who have been hating for ridiculous reasons more. To the point where I would almost enjoy a Heat championship just to watch the legions of idiots eat crow.

Honestly that was my only hesitation when I thought about it. Dirk dead *#$ deserves one and this may be the closest he'll ever get to having that chance again and I'd have absolutely no qualms seeing him get it if we couldn't either because I've watched him every since I read the slam article on him before he came into the leauge.  Both one of them deserve it, however i think it would be more detrimental to Bron not to get it now than to Dirk unfortunately
