Let's just say that after missing out on Lee, they've decided on a budget now of an additional $8-10m to spend on 2011 payroll and some of that is due to Jeter's contract, was re-signing him for 3 years worth it?  What if Soriano doesn't want to be a set-up man?  What's left to get: bullpen, another starter not including Pettitte, anything else?  Offseason signings so far have been Martin, Jeter, Mariano, Prior (minor-league) right?
The yankee front office deserves a big:

Well according to Buster Olney, the Yanks are not in on the bidding on Rafael Soriano. Guess its back to Joba being set-up man.

honestly, at this point...go after Grienke, he can be the 2nd or 3rd starter...it's time to take a chance. I'm against it but it's the best move possible right now.

Yankees have asked to see Freddy Garcia's medical records.

As reported on the MLB Offseason thread, Kerry Wood is returning to the Cubs to join their bullpen.

Pedro Feliciano and Brian Fuentes are still on the Yankees' radar.

Grienke probably is the best move they can make right now but they don't wanna give up Montero. Maybe they can give up some mid-level prospects and get a guy like Brett Myers or hope that St Louis says hey we can't afford to sign back both Pujols and Carpenter next yr, so here's Carpenter and we don't want Montero cause we're set with Molina. Not gonna happen but I can dream.

Considering how bad this off-season went, the only way it can get worse is if we trade 2-3 top prospects that we could use in the next 1-2 years in desperation.

Typed that saying it's going to happen

Yankees to sign Pedro Feliciano
The Yankees have agreed to sign Pedro Feliciano, according to Jon Heyman of SI.com (Twitter link). MDR Sports represents the left-hander. The two-year deal will be for $9MM and include an option for 2013, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (on Twitter).

The 34-year-old is durable, effective against left-handed hitters and used to pitching in New York. Feliciano has led the National League in appearances in each of the past three seasons for the Mets, the team with which he has spent his entire eight-year career. Overall, Feliciano posted a 3.30 ERA with 8.0 K/9 and 4.3 BB/9 in 62 2/3 innings in 2010.

Feliciano limited left-handed hitters to a .211/.297/.276 line last year. He did not allow a home run in 139 matchups against lefty batters.

The Yankees will not have to surrender a draft choice, but the Mets will obtain a supplementary first round pick, since Feliciano turned down their offer or arbitration. The Red Sox, Rockies and Phillies also had interest in the reliever.

The Yankees now seem likely to pursue starting pitching, a right-handed reliever and an outfielder who bats from the right-side.

I expect Girardi to use him in relief against every lefty batter

Didn't even know Dustin Moseley was gone.

We need 2-3 more RH relievers, A #4 or #5 starter depending on Andy's official decision. A utility infielder. And a DH/OF kind of guy

I think with Wood going it may open up Rafael Soriano a little more. I know Cashman is opposed to paying closer salaries for non closers but with Wood gone he'd have a larger role on the team as a setup man (= extra $) and he's only 30 so we could make him the closer when Mo leaves. 4yr/$40-45mil should be the offer
