Posted: March 3, 2008

Sporting News staff reports

Veteran running back Warrick Dunn asked to be released from the Atlanta Falcons, SI.com reports.

Dunn's request came Sunday night, shortly after the team completed a six-year, $34.5 million deal to acquire free agent running back Michael Turner.

A source told the website that several teams would be interested in picking up Dunn, including the Houston Texans, Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos.

In 11 NFL seasons, Dunn has rushed for 10,181 yards and 47 touchdowns. He also has 15 receiving touchdowns and 4,009 receiving yards.

Dunn probably would've been released anyways...... it was coming.....

wouldn't surprise me to see him sign with Tampa though...

Titans snag TE Crumpler

Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - The Tennessee Titans have agreed to terms with tight end Alge Crumpler, according to the Tennessean.

The newspaper reported that Crumpler, a four-time Pro Bowl selection, is set to sign a deal worth just over $5 million, including a $1 million signing bonus.

Crumpler was saddled with knee problems for much of last season with the Atlanta Falcons and finished with 42 receptions for 444 yards and five touchdowns.

In seven career seasons, all with Atlanta, Crumpler has amassed 316 catches for 4,212 yards and 35 touchdowns.

Moss Watch Continues

March 2, 2008 2:48 PM

The most intriguing story line of free agency is starting to cause panic among Patriots fans. I'm receiving at least 10 e-mails per hour demanding updates on the star receiver.

Boston Herald beat writer John Tomase, currently the arch-nemesis of Bill Belichick, has put together a list of the most likely destinations for Moss should he decide not to return to the Patriots. I thought it would be done by now, but with each passing hour, there's a better chance Moss signs with another team.

Here's Tomase's top-5 list, which is led by Jerry Jones and the Cowboys. Jerry loves making a big splash more than anyone, but surely he recognizes that putting T.O. and Moss together might cause some issues. Both players have matured over the past year, but let's not get carried away. I mean, who is going to wear No. 81?

Here's the Hashmarks top 5:

1. Packers

2. Cowboys

3. Saints

4. Panthers

5. Steelers

we NEED warrick dunn ... or the poor homeless mans half dunn in tatum bell ... and how sick would it make everyone if we signed randy cakes? 13/16 of our gameswere nationally televised this past season and we dominated the ESPN talk every show with TO and Romo and Jessica and Roys horse collars and the barbariansback muscles ... imagine TO and Moss? Espn might just set up a camera like them african live feeds and have minute by minute updates on their wearabouts

Will the Raiders PLEASE sign Bryant Johnson, Jacob Bell & Antwan Odom ? or atleast 2 of the 3.. lol.. I think you dont have to absurdly overspend on these3 and they can all be starters and make a good imapct on any team they sign too

Do u want the Raiders to sign Bryant Johnson cuz u think he's just that good or because he's the only WR available left?

I'd rather see Al draft a WR with greater potential than 40 catches/ yr.

Strengths: Thickly and powerfully built back. Possesses adequate height, a strong lower body and enormous arms. Runs with adequate pad-leveland will generate lots of yards after initial contact. Drives his legs and always seems to be falling forward. Vision and patience are adequate to good. Showsabove-average initial quickness and outstanding burst when bouncing runs outside. Very few backs his size share such a noticeable second-gear (see: 2008 RoseBowl vs. USC). He is a reliable pass-catcher with a good feel for getting open underneath. Can pluck the ball on the run and is dangerous in the open fieldwith a head of steam. Is more than willing in pass pro and possesses the size/strength to anchor versus blitzing linebackers. Does not have a lot of wear onhis tires and his best football should be ahead of him.

Weaknesses: Not overly elusive and won't generate many yards by making defenders miss in space. Had some fumbling issues earlier in hiscareer. Only one season as fulltime load carrier at collegiate level. Will need some time to adjust to blitz pickup in NFL. Awareness in that regard is onlydecent. While he has been a productive receiver, he needs to do a better job of catching with his hands rather than allowing it to frequently get into hisbody. Off-season conditioning has never been his strength. Doesn't have much room left on frame to add bulk, so he will need to guard against addingunnecessary weight.

Overall: After graduating high school early and arriving on campus in the spring of 2005, Mendenhall contributed immediately as a truefreshman. In 10 games, he ran for 218 yards on 48 carries and had 13 receptions for 82 yards and two touchdowns. In 2006, he ran for 640 yards and five TDs ona Big Ten-best 8.2 yards per carry, adding another 164 yards and a score on 12 receptions. As a junior, Mendenhall delivered 1,999 total yards and 19 TDs in 13games. He led the conference and ranked eighth in the nation in rushing yards (1,681). Mendenhall peaked as a junior, which was his first season as a fulltimestarter at Illinois. While he still can improve as a football player, there are no glaring weaknesses to his game. Mendenhall is a powerful runner with theburst to hit the occasional homerun. He also is more than capable in the passing game both as a receiver and blocker. With good coaching and attention todetail, Mendenhall has a chance to rank among the upper-echelon starters in the NFL a couple years from now. Mendenhall is worth a mid-to-late first round pickand he should be the second or third running back selected in April's draft.

The New England Patriots and Randy Moss are finalizing terms on a three year, $27 million deal, a source told ESPN's Chris Mortensen.
The two sides are currently in the process of reviewing contract details, the source told ESPN.

On Friday, Moss started to listen to offers from other teams. On Saturday, he explored possibilities with other franchises and even discussed the possibility of reuniting with his former Vikings teammate, Daunte Culpepper, on another team.
