NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The wife of Tennessee Titans All-Pro defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth has filed for divorce.

According to court documents filed Monday in Williamson County Chancery Court, Stephanie Haynesworth alleges irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct as the reason for the divorce.

She is asking for alimony and custody of the couple's two children plus Albert's oldest son, who she says she has cared for since 2004. The couple was married in October 2003.

Haynesworth is coming off his best season as a professional. He had a career-high six sacks in 2007, was named an All-Pro and voted to the Pro Bowl as a starter for the first time in his career.

The Titans designated Haynesworth as their franchise player Feb. 20, but he is not under contract. He did not join the team in the offseason program that started Monday. The only way Haynesworth can take part would be to sign the tender worth approximately $7.8 million, which would be 120 percent of his salary for 2007.

Speck said Haynesworth is working out on his own and will be ready for the 2008 season.

WILSON AGREES TO DEAL WITH EAGLES
Posted by Mike Florio on March 26, 2008, 12:21 p.m.
As we expected, the announcement that free-agent tight end/fullback/H-back Kris Wilson is meeting with the Eagles soon will be followed by an announcement that he has agreed to terms.

Though the announcement has not yet been made, Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that a deal is done for the former Chiefs draft pick, who was stuck for four years behind Tony Gonzalez. We'd previously heard that it will be a three-year contract.

We've also heard that Wilson's primary position in Philly might end up being fullback, and that his choice of jersey numbers could reflect that.

In an unrelated development, Dan Klecko just yelled "oh sh-t" really loudly.

I was hoping the packers picked him up, looks like we will go TE with one of our first 3 picks..

Its been reported by local sports stations in Oakland and Cincy, by Don Simons, and sportsnation that Raiders are offering a deal to acquire Bengals WR Chad Johnson

A deal that would send Stuart Schweigart, Fabian Washington, and a 2009 Draft Pick (reported a 2nd and maybe 4th)

This might be a talk to boost ratings, but it was on sportsnation, radio, and Don Simons believes Chad will be a Raider on Draft Day

...don't kill the messenger, i'm very skeptical of it, i don't feel like looking for a legit source...saw it on raiderfans.net under Rumor Mill

i know one thing, we are getting a band of characters like we had during the winning years, and the means...winning is coming...along with a real coach

Nice. That adds depth at our TE position with LJ Smith, Matt Schobel, and Brent Celek. Dude will provide more speed in our offense.

Oh yeah Eagles also just signed LB Rocky Boiman from the Colts to a one-year deal to add veteran leadership to our linebacking corps.

New rule would affect playoffs
NFL owners will consider seeding change at annual meeting
BY MARK CURNUTTE | [email protected]

Aside from discussion among NFL owners about potential problems with their labor contract and possible need for more revenue sharing, ownership will address anumber of proposals and plans next week at their annual meeting.

The annual meeting officially opens Monday in Palm Beach, Fla.

Atlanta Falcons vice president Rick McKay, co-chairman of the NFL's competitive committee, talked Wednesday afternoon on a conference call about the stateof the game and proposals for rules changes that will be presented to ownership.

One of the most time-sensitive by-law proposals is to change seeding for playoffs, McKay said. Each of the four division winners in each conference would earnpostseason berths, but only the two division winners in each conference with the best records would get automatic home games. The division winners with thelower two records, plus the two wild-card teams, would compete for seeds three through six based on record.

The goal would be to "motivate coaches to have more games that matter," McKay said. The league wants to avoid the situation in theTennessee-at-Indianapolis game on Sunday night, Dec. 30, in which the Colts rested their regulars because they were already locked into a seed. The Titans wonand eliminated Cleveland from contention.

In the area of on-field rules, owners will vote on proposals to eliminate the force-out of a receiver, similar to the college game; it was called 15 times lastseason. And a force-out would be called only if a defender picked up an offensive player and carried him out of bounds.

The committee is proposing to include field goals in instant replay review, give teams the option of deferring to receive the ball in the second half on thecoin toss and eliminate the 5-yard minor face mask penalty, covering all facemask violations - twisting, turning or pulling - with a 15-yard penalty.

The competition committee has eight members, who include Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis, as well as a coaches' subcommittee chaired by Colts coach TonyDungy. Tennessee head coach Jeff Fisher is the co-chairman of the committee, which meets to study the game and propose rules changes to ownership.

The committee is proposing to create a second defensive player with a communication device in his helmet, but he could not be on the field at the same time asthe other defender with the communication device in his helmet. The goal is to create a competitive balance with the offense, whose quarterback has acommunication device in his helmet. At this time, no defender may wear a communication device.

The committee wants to create a five- to seven-day dead period before the start of veteran free agency during which certified agents can negotiate but not signcontracts for their clients.

There would be no player visit or contact allowed with prospective new teams. The Kansas City Chiefs, among others, have complained that other teams have hadcontact with prospective free agents prior to the signing period.

And, as a follow-up to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell's memo from earlier this month, the league wants to establish an auditing process of each team - onwhich a senior official with the team would sign off - that the team is following league rules and guidelines. The memo and potential action result from the"Spygate" issue in which the New England Patriots illegally video-taped the New York Jets sideline during the 2007 opener.

The goal is to protect the integrity and fair competition of the game, said Ray Anderson, a league vice president.

The competition committee also studied results of the past season, McKay said.

chad would bring wins to oakland it wont be moss v2.0 we would have a offense this time who could move the ball. he would be on a way better team that moss wason. raiders can run the ball and chad would be good with walker. i jus hope it happens and we keep our 4 pick

I have a really hard time buying that report... Pretty much everyone in the local media has come down on that report, calling it completely fabricated...The consensus at this point seems to be that the Cowboys don't want to give up more than a 6th, and Tennessee has been asking for a 3rd... Everyone thinksthey'll come to terms on a conditional 4th rounder, or somewhere along those lines...

The only player I could see the Cowboys moving is Akin Ayodele. They'd save 500,000 in cap space by releasing or trading him, so I'd think they wouldconsider it if the Titans wanted him. But why would they? The Cowboys will cut him June 1st anyways...

By all indications, PacMan will be a Cowboy by the end of next week.

What about Bobby Carpenter? He's basically been on the trading block for awhile now.

NFL Compensatory Picks are out...

Compensatory draft picks are extra picks in the third through seventh rounds, and they go to teams that lost more or better free agents than they acquired, based on a complex formula. The maximum number of compensatory picks any team can receive is four, which the Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals got this year.

The Bears, Colts, Eagles and ******** got three compensatory picks apiece. The Bills, Panthers and Dolphins got two each, and the Falcons, Packers, Giants, Rams, Chargers and Titans each got one.

The most valuable compensatory picks are the third-rounders, which were awarded to the ********, Bengals, Falcons and Ravens. In past years those would have been the last four picks of the first day of the draft; this year the third round is on the second day.

Fourth-round compensatory picks went to the Eagles, Bills, Ravens, Titans and Packers. Only one team, the Chargers, got a fifth-round compensatory pick.

Sixth-round compensatory picks were awarded, in order, to the Giants, Eagles, Colts, Colts, Eagles, Dolphins, Colts, Ravens and Bengals. The rest of the compensatory picks are seventh-rounders.

Six picks in the first 3 rounds for the Falcons now.

Dimitroff better do work...

What about Bobby Carpenter? He's basically been on the trading block for awhile now.
They aren't gonna trade him, along with a pick, for PacMan... They don't even want to give up a 5th this year and another late round picknext year... Can't see them trading a former first rounder with two years under his belt for a guy that may not even play more than a few games beforegetting arrested.

The latest report says an "insignificant" player would be a possibility... I don't think they consider Carp insignificant... To me, that sayMiles Austin or Akin Ayodele.

Not to be a homer, but:

-Jets won't be trading Pennington this year.

-Mangini and GM Mike Tannenbaum WILL be back in '09 despite the outcome of this coming season.

Broncos revive pursuit of Jets' Robertson

March 31, 2008 12:31 PM

Posted by ESPN.com's Bill Williamson

As the NFL meetings get going, the Broncos are starting to revive their interest in Jets defensive tackle Dewayne Robertson.

The Broncos were close to dealing for Robertson in mid-March but the talks were stalled when the team suddenly fired general manager Ted Sundquist on March 12. Sundquist was the point man in the talks with the Jets.

With Sundquist now out of the picture and with Denver still needing a force in the middle of its young front four, the team has reconsidered making a deal for Robertson, a talented player who doesn't fit in the Jets' scheme.

Still, finalizing a deal will be difficult for Denver. Robertson's contract will have to be restructured and the team has been in on-again, off-again talks with his agent, Hadley Engelhard, for several weeks. Robertson is due a $3 million bonus in June and he has salary-cap number of about $11 million for this season.

Denver would have to redo the deal to make it fiscally worthwhile, especially with the Broncos in a cost-conscience mode this offseason.

The Broncos are said not to be overly concerned about an Robertson's knee problem. The issue was serious enough, however, to negatively impact a potential trade early in March that would have sent Robertson to Cincinnati for two mid-round picks.

At this point, it seems, the only hurdle standing in the way of Denver making its biggest splash of the offseason is coming to an agreement with Robertson financially.

Pacman Jones wants to go to Dallas, and the Cowboys apparently want him. How much they'll give up to get him is a different story.
Hashmarks: Pacman's Price?
mosley_matt_m.jpg

The Titans might be asking too much of the Cowboys in return for Pacman Jones. Matt Mosley writes that Tennessee would be fortunate to recieve a fifth-round pick in return for the suspended cornerback. Hashmarks

A source close to the negotiations told ESPN's Ed Werder on Sunday night that trade talks between the Cowboys and Titans have stalled over the issue of compensation.

The Titans are seeking a fourth-round pick in this year's draft and a fourth-round selection next year, according to the source. The Cowboys are so far unwilling to provide either, believing they are the only team pursuing Jones, who remains suspended for violations of the personal-conduct policy.

ESPN.com's Matt Mosley has been told by a Titans source that there is a feeling in the organization that Jones cannot be reformed and should be traded even though at least one Tennessee defensive starter says players would embrace Jones' return.

The Titans have been steadfast in their position, apparently convinced that Jones' trade value will not worsen.

Jones said last week in a radio interview with Cowboys Hall of Famer Michael Irvin that he wants to resume his career in Dallas. He will apply to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell for reinstatment in the next two weeks.

Ed Werder covers the NFL for ESPN. Matt Mosley covers the NFL for ESPN.com.
