lina hidalgo is a progressive right?
let me gives a texas progressive some props, instead of constant criticism.

this sounds like good policy and good politics.
well violence interrupters my understanding is there is no evidence it works.
but even still sounds good.

i hope she likes guns.

I’m out of touch with my home city’s political scene, but she seems like such a good example of twice as good to go half as far. Really impressive resume all around.

I especially liked her time at TCRP. I had the fortune of taking a civil rights class from Jim Harrington. He’s a mensch and that org is solid. I think I might just write her a check.

Given that she’s from Colombia , I’m gonna guess she’s not a fan of guns.

I am not saying she should tolerate anything, I am just stating how I think she should react politically and that I didn't agree with how she did personally.
She reacted appropriately, especially since Boebert and other GOP politicians have made it a habit to talk about her in such terms.

Let's not act like if one of those idiots decide to take a shot at Omar's life, McCarthy will sincerely call them out.

I mean, standing by it because of your “culture war” takes without any virology or medical expertise isn’t admirable. You just look dumb

again with this "experts" stuff, :rolleyes
scientific expertise can't tell you what trade offs to make.

what is wrong about what I said?

if you have effective anti virals, and effective vaccines you should end
masking guidelines because most people wear low quality masks anyways that provide little protection.

now obviously if Omicron evades the protection my subsequent advise wouldn't apply.
what exactly is incorrect about that position?

and if it's so wrong when do you think we should wind down covid protocols?

I really miss how wrestling used to be
Even with the racism and sexism it was insanely entertaining

Im on a binge rewatching entourage and the stuff that is said on that show, especially by Ari, would be a nonstarter today. It’s sad because I still want to cry from laughter at times.

building lot's of new houses doesn't fix everything.

but it seems to help a lot

Other than the headline, I’m not sure how to interpret this graph. Why was their more reduction in high growth neighborhoods than low growth? What does this look like normalized for capacity and baseline population?

Is anyone having more luck interpreting these results? I mean, population increases in areas with additional capacity seems obvious, right?

I read it as a response to the idea that more construction leads to "gentrification" and displacement of black neighborhood populations.

So as a black person living in NYC I see it as late stage gentrification. Aka not as effective as gentrification in other neighborhoods . Right now a lot of new buildings are being completed in some of the largest black neighborhoods . These neighborhoods traditionally are either working class black people or public housing. So people aren’t moving out with increases in rent. People are just moving into neighborhoods that are still very much full of their prior black residents. So any additional black people who might move into the required affordable units or general units are just adding to the overall amount of black people in the neighborhood. Keep in mind Covid slowed down gentrification in NYC heavily and it still hasn’t rebounded. Plus most of these new units are not being filled by transients moving to NYC because people are still wary of NYC in case there is a pandemic rebound.

I’m not a trump supporter.

You supported, defended and contributed to something for at least 4 years that made the world a worse place for black people amongst others

if you can’t acknowledge the part you actively played in that, how do you expect to be part of the solution?

Right now, most of us just assume when it becomes convenient, again, you’re going pull out that red MAGA cap you purchased and go back to ignoring the blatant actions of some extremely deplorable people

You might want to keep to telling Methodical Management Methodical Management on me if you’re not going admit to the actions you took like we all didn’t witness it

:smh:
