***Official Political Discussion Thread***

-They are grants, the nonprofits can be spending the money on a list of things. If they want to spend it all on Narcan, or testing kits, it seems like they can do that. It is just an option

-The point of the kits is to turn people away from injecting drugs, which increases the risk of overdose

-Also to lowers other forms of infections, and leads to other health complication

-While I support ending the war on drugs and making weed federally legal. Those are kinda separate issues

Addicts will still seek drugs, and weed won't be used as a substitute

This is a more targeted intervention to users of narcotics

That’s all good with me, you can’t just turn a blind eye to it and expect it to get better.

As far as the war on drugs and weed federally legal thats just my wish list.

Biden needs to get behind legal weed already

I have my own grievances on how the school funding and redistributive policies to minority communities targeted during the war on drugs have fallen out of the conversation

I wish legalization came with some strings attached to helping marginalized communities

But even considering all that, it is time

But putting all that aside, it is time

Been saying this, if he got weed legalized he’d win a lot of people over.

They should do that, only thing the war on drugs did was drive prices up and ruin a bunch of lives. I can’t believe we still got this Reagan era ******** alive and well today.

That is a horrible way to frame what seemingly is a smart program

People are overdosing like crazy

The administration wants to give money to nonprofits that try to prevent even more collateral by not criminalizing drug users

The kits are just one of the things the nonprofits can spend their money on

And what is told to the public is this nonsense
It's a report from the DailyMail. You only get nonsense from them.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) criticized the Republican National Committee (RNC) for its censure of Reps. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) and Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) and broke with their language on the Jan. 6, 2021 riot, calling it a “violent insurrection.”

“It was a violent insurrection with the purpose of trying to prevent a peaceful transfer of power after a legitimately certified election. ... That’s what it was,” McConnell said.

Wondering if the internal war between the GOP establishment and the pro-Trump crazies will ever grow more public...

They got dirt on him and he’s trying to get on the right side to save himself regardless of what he actually believes.

Meant to say this a while back, but SayCheese and Shaderoom def got some interesting **** going on. It will not surprise me, that somewhere down the line….you’ll find some sketchy funding for messaging.

That said, the Biden admin is doing a horrible job with simple messaging, and even attempting to counter ****.

And they also haven’t gotten behind the simple stuff, that everybody can relate to or cheer for.

I’ve noticed that People claim they want substance, but they REALLY don’t. People also are very cool with being misinformed, if it reinforces something they want to believe. Transparency doesn’t matter. We really in a post truth society

Harm reduction for drug addicts is typically seen as a positive for the 25mil audience of the shaderoom.

But with messaging that’s pulled from sourcing like this…it is the complete opposite. Just look at the comments.

We really in for a **** storm.

The apprently announced this program in November

And we didn't hear a peep about it

They are just finalizing the rules for the grants

And all of a sudden certain outlets are bussing

I guess I sure now how crack pipes work tho & man i tell ya it's JUST WHAT WE NEED in these neighborhoods :lol:
Lawd you are terrible at this

This is a grant to non-profits. They decide how the money is spent not the Biden Administration. The kits are just one of the things on a list of things they can use the grant money on.

It is 25 million in total grants

Secondly, Biden budget proposals include hundreds of billions of education funding

And his economic plan wanted to increase it by tens of billions more

Good grief stop making yourself look so proud to be intellectually lazy

Intellectually Lazy is believing this ******** year after year after year from people who have decades of recorded lies :lol:.

But your Vote counts & change will come!! word to his fair skin brotha from another Barack

Thank you wavycrocket wavycrocket I was not aware of his cato institute article, nor was I aware of his book the diversity myth. I have read zero to one and was mildly impressed.

I also think he definitely phrases things intentionally to get a reaction, I see why he liked Trump now. I also am not sure what he means by Democracy not being compatible with capitalism. After reading the entire article I come to interpret he means as more and more people vote and engage in the democratic process, capitalism is actually neutered not enhanced. (I actually agree with this point) If he means it in any other way, he is a moron.

However, in totality I take it that he is in fact a Libertarian, which is to say the worst type of Republican, one who could care less about anyone else, and just wants to pay less taxes. I actually have more respect for NEO CONS etc....Underwhelming to say the least.

I hope you are aware that the Right funds a lot more organizations than the ones that are openly conservative with the explicit goal to divide the democratic base and increase apathy:

A digital marketing firm closely linked to the pro-Trump youth group Turning Point USA was responsible for a series of deceptive Facebook ads promoting Green party candidates during the 2018 US midterm elections, the Guardian can reveal.

In an apparent attempt to split the Democratic vote in a number of close races, the ads purported to come from an organization called America Progress Now (APN) and used socialist memes and rhetoric to urge leftwing voters to support Green party candidates.

Facebook was aware of the true identity of the advertiser – the conservative marketing firm Rally Forge – and the deceptive nature of the ads, documents seen by the Guardian show, but the company determined that they did not violate its policies.

During the 2020 election cycle, mysterious independent candidates appeared in three battleground races for the Florida Senate — districts 37 and 39 in the Miami area, and District 9, which includes Seminole County and parts of Volusia in Central Florida. These candidates did not campaign for office but all three were boosted by a well-funded advertising blitz that promoted them as progressives, in an apparent attempt to lure voters away from the Democrats in each race. An Orlando Sentinel investigation reveals connections from this scheme to the highest level of Florida business and politics.

These are just a few recent examples.

His boy Kanye running for president was pretty much a right-wing funded attempt to split the Democratic vote...

New documents show Kanye West’s doomed White House campaign—styled as an “independent” third-party effort—appears to have disguised potentially millions of dollars in services it received from a secretive network of Republican Party operatives, including advisers to the GOP elite and a managing partner at one of the top conservative political firms in the country.

Potentially even more alarming? The Kanye 2020 campaign committee did not even report paying some of these advisers, and used an odd abbreviation for another—moves which campaign finance experts say appear designed to mask the association between known GOP operatives and the campaign, and could constitute a violation of federal laws.
