Bro, I think Jameson might be out of lives. This past week hasn’t been a good look for him. Was throwing up something liquidy that appeared to be mixed with blood, then later that night he let out a loud yelp and we caught him heavily panting with his mouth open under the bed. Everything I googled doesn’t seem good. Brought him to the emergency vet that night, checked his vitals and said they saw nothing, but he has still shown signs he isn’t doing well and has a vet appt tomorrow. It’s not looking good.

Not saying there is nothing they could do. I’m saying they do nothing.

Not asking you to change for me buddy.

But believing the Dems care about you is like believing a stripper likes you, it’s like believing professional wrestling is real.

But please continue to be smug and condescending.
Never once did I state my views on the Democratic party are motivated by the feeling the party cares for me specifically. I didn't even come to close to this

This is just a lazy argument people roll out when they can't come up with anything worth a damn to say.

But keep peddling nonsense to deflect from having to come up with one cogent argument on this subject.

You can't answer any of the points I made regarding this topic, so all you have left is taking issue with my tone

Keep saying nothing, and I'll keep pointing out you said nothing when I please

The term “trolling” has been thrown around pretty loosely in here today, so let me clarify what that means from a moderation perspective:

Trolling is negative, disruptive behavior that serves to frustrate and antagonize good faith participants in a discussion or activity.

If someone is personally disrespectful to you in the process of making a point you don’t like, they may still be violating the rules, but trolling refers to a very specific type of offense and shouldn’t be diluted to the point of meaninglessness, as an expression of general disagreement.

And the rate more than doubles among Black women, to more than 55 deaths per 100,000 live births according to WHO figures - over 2.9 times the rate of non-Hispanic White women.

It’s important to bear in mind that we are talking about restricting access to potentially life-saving healthcare, and the brunt of this decision will be unequally distributed.

People have no clue what this will do to the costs of Healthcare and the availability of Healthcare across the board. Just off the top of my head I could see Healthcare costs increasing just on the medical malpractice costs alone when Dr's get sued for miscarriages that are framed as abortions. Not to mention it is already hard enough to get Drs to go to rural areas so I see a brain drain exodus of Drs from those states as well. Not trying to hear scums cry when costs go up.

So you think Hillary won that

nomination fair and square huh? 😭😭😭

Maybe I’m just remembering those events incorrectly, I personally feel like Hillary was definitely not the best candidate for the nomination though.
It’s kind of a pointless discussion since Bernie didn’t win the nomination, but he would have had trouble with being labeled a socialist.

Probably the worst news I've heard in awhile. I love Jameson like he was a member of my own family. Him being ok helped me during my mom's Chemo. Something about him makes me happy.

I’ll keep you updated Aepps, but I don’t think it’s looking good :(

So I have seen George Carlin praised in here a few times today…. And given that there have been a few who love to bash the “both sides takes” it made me remember this quote from Carlin. He seemed to have a very “both sides” belief. Sure he talked down more so on conservative beliefs, but at the end of the day, it was very clear he thought the entire thing was a sham. Ironic that when a few of us NTers have the same sentiment, we are shamed 🙄

Not everyone has the money to just relocate like that.
Not saying he is correct

Just saying that some in the GOP just believe it will help them

Moving cost in America is really high, you are right, I don't think this will happen. The only issue is that college-aged affluent young white people are probably the most mobile demographic, and they are becoming a reliable Democratic voting bloc. But I think job opportunities motivate those decision more than anything else

One reason the GOP is not afraid of this decision blowing back on them, some believe it will help them...

if mass exodus from purple states happens, could those blue states gain more electoral votes assuming there's that big of a migration and those folks stay thru the next census?

but i do wonder if political climate and (restrictive) access to basic human rights is enough for folks to up and leave? short of labor opportunities, i don't know if folks are uncomfortable enough or even have the financial privilege/means to just move.

That Carlin bit about people not critically thinking, reminds me of some Republicans and conservatives believing more in religious ideas than actual science and logic.

But his context was more towards big corps. Wall Street types.

All these insults of other people people group thinkers and one person being the free thinker in the room reminds me of when I would teach a Prin of Econ classes and on the first day I see a white kid sit at the front of the room and he is wearing fedora and cravat ascot.

And all I can think is...
oh-boy-here-we-go-again.gif

Each year that goes by, I get more and more emphatic that econ 1 is largely built on perfect market assumptions and that they rarely apply to real life.

I hope to leave the fedora guy so alienated from econ 1 and think it’s such a cultural Marxist conspiracy that he changes his major and studies sociology or liberal arts or something outside the business and econ bubble and maybe he stops being right wing by getting exposed to alternative perspectives.

Although that’s unlikely to happen. The econ 1/Milton Friedman view of the world is so attractive to conservatives because it envisions market forces that are A.) totally independent from politics and political decision making and B.) these market forces are able to punish the unworthy and reward the worthy. If econ 1 didn't exist, conservatives would have to invent it.
