As long as Israel exists in its present form, as a Jewish Supremacist state, it has to be anti democratic, it had to have apartheid, it had to have tiered citizenship.

If there were a UN dictated timetable for a new state based on equality, the worst Israeli elements would leave and Hamas would lose its material reason for being.

Marshaling the political will would take time and implementing a egalitarian Levantine state and society would take even more time as well as money to make things work,

But if we can’t get that, and we have an apartheid state, two adjacent Bantustans, and no right of return in any form, there will never be a durable peace. Moreover, the Muslim majority in the region has a long memory, US hegemony won’t last forever and eventually, the Muslims in the region will get the upper hand and the State of Israel’s downfall could end with mass killing and expulsions of Jews.


If you want lasting peace, a just peace, Palestinians must acknowledge that a large migration of Jewish people happened and they have a right to stay; meanwhile, Jewish people have to stop claiming a right to be on top of a hierarchy of tiered citizenship.

Any peace deal or roadmap that does’t contain those two key elements will fail.
