***Official Political Discussion Thread***

Ed Henry is reporting that the whistleblower had a politically agenda against Trump but that transcript will cause some headaches for Trump.

So much for this

I have been saying since the day Trump was elected that he should be impeached. The evidence was simply too strong, too thorough, too damning to ignore.

I said again and again that I don't care if it lacks public support or if it is not going gain bipartisan support. The fact is, right is right, and we cannot sell away our dignity to score points. NOT IN THIS CLIMATE. This is the ripping off of the band-aid. It will hurt, but it is necessary.

I know this might divide the country so I hope Congress moves quickly and impeaches Barack Obama IMMEDIATELY for poor taste in suit colors.

My bro whywesteppin whywesteppin knows what's up. Barack Hussein Obama needs to be impeached. Glad the impeachment resolution shows bipartisan support to get him out

Thank you, brat (Russian word). The world will finally see what American can accomplish when we unite behind a common goal.

Hopefully both sides can also agree that the witch hunt against Donald Trump needs to be put to rest, for good. Yes, sure, he may have said some stuff on the phone with Ukraine that mainstream politicians find "bad." But he's new to this. This is why we elected him.

Nasty Nancy is caving into pressure from the rabid left (socialists) and honestly I feel bad for her. She obviously has a giant crush on Donald and now she's in this super-awkward position. Sometimes libbies don't realize that their actions hurt everyone.

Do ex/presidents still get a lifetime of secret service? One of the saddest things for me is knowing that Trump will never get the *** beating he deserves for all the awful, racist, repugnant, things he’s done and said.

Nancy is just like our PRESIDENT ELECT. She's rich, principled, HANDSOME and athletic. They are da dream team but Libbie scumbags have made her do things that she doesn't want to do.

The conventional wisdom in 2016 was that Donald Trump was so toxic that affluent office workers in the ‘burbs, who ordinarily vote for Republicans, would defect in droves and not vote for Donald Trump. That did not happen.

Now we are told, by DNC grandees, that these mythical moderates will close ranks around Donald Trump in 2020 if he is impeached.

If these affluent suburbanites did not support Dems in 2016 and now they know that affluent suburbanites won’t support Dems in 2020, why do Dems insist that we keep centering affluent suburbanites?

Shouldn't the Democratic Party acknowledge that the only way to defeat Trump and the GOP is to expand the electorate and appeal to poor folk?

The Democratic Party has, since the late 80’s, decided to center its strategy on wooing a median voter who is always imagined to be affluent (and usually white). This strategy centers affluent suburbanites at the expense of the 80% of the country who are either poor or one misfortune away from being poor. Unsurprisingly, about half of adults don’t vote and it’s unsurprising when one political party speaks for the 1% and the “left” party supports the wealthiest 20%.

The Democratic Party strategy of accepting low turn out and trying to appeal to university educated Republicans is a loser. It either loses on Election Day or it wins but the Democratic majority cannot do anything and sits there until it gets clobbered on the next Election Day.

When the electorate is small, the electorate is conservative and the median voter is conservative. If you, as a political party, style yourself as opposed to conservatism, you must expand the electorate if you are serious in your stated goal.

We must expand the electorate to stop Trump and to stop future Trump’s. Unfortunately, most Democratic leaders do not want that. To expand the electorate is to oppose the class interests of Democratic elites. Sadly, they would rather lose as a quite and polite centrist political Party rather than win as a loud, popular workers party.
