sh*ts getting real out here. My wife does marketing for a home healthcare and hospice company and they just temporarily laid off almost the entire home health care side of the sales and marketing force as well as pay cuts for everyone that didnt get laid off. we're blessed that she didnt get laid off but the pay cut isnt bueno.
luckily on my end, the manufacturer im working for is thriving. we've had some orders pulled but the aerospace industry is still chugging along and we got a massive order for some our parts that go into ventilators, a part that we havent gotten a meaningful order for almost 4 years, which probably speaks to why we're in such a shortage now

If anyone in here needed proof that the Dow does not have a bearing in economic reality and is a terrible indicator to be used solely as a gauge of the current economy, you can look no further than today. Unemployment claims went up by 6.6M this morning, which doubled the previous high of 3.3M from LAST week, which quadrupled the previous high from 1987 and what does the Dow do? The Dow went up 500 points because Russia and the Saudis are going to ease oil production.

I was actually born and raised there and there are a decent number of Black folks in Casper, Cheyenne, Laramie. Surprisingly the people there are relatively decent.

Trump made a claim publically that influenced the stock markets. That claim was denied by somebody else with first-hand knowledge, effectively making Trump's claim a lie. Is this market manipulation? Does the SEC even care?

10 million people have filed for unemployment in the past 2 weeks during a pandemic. Most of them probably had insurance through their employer. After this I don't want to hear any more bull**** about choice in healthcare.

I will say I am proponent of choice in health care, but I think this could potentially be the biggest issue in the pandemic and no one is really talking about it. Approximately 30M people were uninsured before all of this. There are some estimates that upwards of 47M people will be laid off from their jobs. The average household size in the US is 2.6 people per household. This could potentially leave 100M-150M people uninsured in a time where health coverage is going to be increasingly important. This **** could get really scary from a choice of health care costs versus necessary life saving treatment.

obviously this was done to stabilize the Oil and Gas industry and prevent future layoffs, it just comes off as tone def given the current economic reports

The thing about this situation is that is makes a good argument for M4A, and it exposes the fact that it is not cure all it was presented as. It also exposes a drawback of it.
