Slavery was a necessary evil, just like crucifying Jesus was a necessary evil. Just like that one time I had to eat a veggie burger because we were out of beef. A necessary evil. Or like when Trump slept with Stormy Daniels while his wife was pregnant (maybe she was on her period too).

It's also a necessary evil that 20-30% of the population should be making less money than they need to live a decent life. Outrageous health care costs are a necessary evil in case those people somehow get too much money.

Betsy prolly cosigns this

I don’t wanna live in a country where a (future) president would call any group of riots/demonstrators “very fine people”

you libs want chaos? You guys like living in fear that urban goons will take over the country? You guys want to live the rest of your lives wearing masks?

He then says he is in no way trying to justify slavery, after doing exactly that.

Tom Cotton calls slavery 'necessary evil' in attack on New York Times' 1619 Project
“The entire premise of the New York Times’ factually, historically flawed 1619 Project … is that America is at root, a systemically racist country to the core and irredeemable,” Cotton told the Democrat-Gazette.
The premise is definitely accurate, Mr Cotton (the evolution of slavery, civil war, sharecropping, the KKK, overthrow of democratically elected governments, lynchings, the GI Bill, housing policy, public transit, public education funding, the car, the interstate system, the war on drugs, police abuse of power, job recruitment, glass ceiling in corporate America, unfavorable loan terms, etc... certainly disagree with you). Nevertheless, redemption for the ills of this system is certainly not out of reach *cough*reparatio*couggghh*
