Decriminalization of those drugs is great. Not everybody needs to be getting harsh sentences for those drugs. Rehabilitation and help should be paramount.

But I do think that decriminalizing it definitely promotes it.

Better taking the trade off of having that potential market regulated, taxed and becoming government revenue rather than enriching criminal elements through the black market. Elements that in turn become a separate public safety threat on their own.

In the countries that have legalized everything, Portugal, Uruguay, Netherlands, they actually didn't see any disproportionate increase in usage rates post legalization either. The loss of the taboo factor diminishes the allure for some often
