I don't recall anyone arguing that he couldn't persuade the GOP to take action when he wanted. I think the counter to your argument was that he was never going to fight for any of the things you claimed he would fight for.

As we can see now, he's putting up quite a fight to invalidate the election results. He hasn't done much to get stimulus checks for struggling people.

That’s not how I recall it. Especially since I often cited the First Step Act and Fair Chance Act as examples of such legislation.

But that’s all in the past...

Current focus is flipping the Senate for the Dems.

We must have very different definitions of what it means to fight for a cause. You think that the effort Trump put into signing the First Step Act and the Fair Chance Act is comparable to the effort he has put into invalidating the election results?

Every time you invoke these two bills as an ill-conceived fig leaf for what is otherwise an indefensible and unconscionable choice, expect to get checked.

It is not possible for Donald Trump to have earned your "support" in 2016 due to either the First Step Act or the Fair Chance Act. He did not run on either policy, nor were they even his initiatives. He reportedly expressed regret for signing the First Step Act.

The Fair Chance Act was incorporated into the National Defense Authorization Act for 2020. His refusal to veto this is hardly a measure of his "ability to get bipartisan legislation passed." It's literally the national defense budget.

There was no Second Step Act.

This is what you voted for - TWICE:

And that's exactly what you got:

Reposted from the NBA thread because I'm not creating a personalized post for you people:

Made my family chocolate souffles for Christmas Eve, making oxtail in the morning, and bought them a brand new laptop and iphone. I better not get socks and an ironic t-shirt again

Merry Christmas you filthy animals :pimp:

You consistently bring up the 2016 choice when I am discussing my choice for support in 2020.

In any event, 2016 was a rebuke of Clinton. Perhaps the superpredators comment and support for the crime bill wasn’t a big deal for you.

For me, it was a politician with a record vs. a non-politician. If you thought Hillary was the best choice for the country, cool.

In 2020 it was about the unique ability to get meaningful legislation past an otherwise obstructive GOP-led senate. He showed the ability to do that with the First Step Act and Fair Chance Act, two measures that couldn’t pass under prior administrations because of the GOP-led senate.

Now that he’s lost, the focus is on flipping the senate so that Biden can actually get legislation passed the same GOP-led Senate.

None of this is complicated.

No.

But that wasn’t your initial question.

You’ve moved the goalposts.

And my support for Trump ended prior to these ridiculous efforts to invalidate the election.

I’m now for helping the Dems flip the Senate.
