Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

it would be incorrect to give puff credit for that specific song but its not wrong to give credit to puff/hitmen for recontextualizing dance records from the 70s/80s into a whole subgenre and aesthetic of rap

which is the same thing Migos have done with the triplet flow. they made a whole new way of making rap music from the beats, flows, <100 buzzwords that *****s STILL come in the game using and even aesthetically, they took *****s from the horrible drowning in leather/Versace look to now the chokers and stuff now.

Meek and Migos most influential of street/trap rap this decade in terms of the type of music being made + the aesthetic/lifestyle that *****s try to emulate.

I'd say Meek as far as style
Future & Migos as far as sonically
Old Gucci as far as persona

I liked hearing Dame say he listens to Pac and Juvenile and not a lot of new rap. Lost me when he mentioned Wayne just like he lost me with that Wayne feature on his album. **** was trash.

I hope that Budden verse make the album.

Nebraska sitting there and tried to get her corny joke off like eight different times. If you don't shut your ***** *** up.

Dame's album was one of my favorites of the last few years, I can't say that enough. I also don't listen to a lot of new rap anymore, it's trash.

Dame talking about KD rapping was funny

I wish Juicy would come out and call out Migos for their BS. They didn't create that flow and hip hop fans need to be educated.

Lol you GOTTA throw fewcha in everything huh

Lol you right though

He's got a point though.

A lot of the cats in this thread, and in general, discount Fewch. Gotta call it out when it happens. Joe Budden got people deluded like homie didn't make March Madness, Racks on Racks, March Madness, Same Damn Time, Tony Montana, Mask Off, March Madness, etc.

Every year for the past 7 years, homie has put out one of the year's most memorable songs. Yet he's count out when people discuss the most influential artists of the past decade.

Bruh. This ***** make 100 songs about nothing and make 1 song and say "my ex left me like I was average" or "we gettin shot By the cops" :lol and y'all be like "he PREACHING!! FEWCH!!"

Lol idk bro I see where y'all coming from but I think when y'all say he has substance y'all are stretching it to the highest degree. A good example is 21 savage recent album where 15 of the songs are about nonsense and then he made that one song I can't remember the name where he's seeming speaking about real **** and y'all like "SEE HE GOT SUBSTANCE TOO" :lol

On another note....it's almost the 3 year anniversary of "Monster".....this set off a run for the ages. Arguably, Future's best body of work. Changed the sound of hip hop. Introduced new harmonies and flows. Metro Boomin's coming out party. 808 Mafia sirens introduction to the masses. Futures resurgence and the starting point of him going to another level musically and as a star.
