Ya, sounds about right. Although, it was about 12 years ago now, so I can't confirm any of that except the meetup at DTP.

I posted this in the soccer thread, Chivas USA is currently MLS owned btw; so relocation/folding and having Republic FC join the MLS would be no issue

But Chivas USA just makes too much sense... the MLS has already made it known they don't want 2 teams in LA, relocating Chivas USA saves an expansion spot for the midwest while staying in the Cali market without having to go to 4 total teams in the state, gets them in the 20th largest TV market in the country.

Unless there's something I'm not seeing, this is a garbage trade.

Sacramento already owned New York's 2016 2nd round pick, but it was protected from 31-37. Those protections have now been lifted. Those protections likely wouldn't have come into play anyway, so this already unsexy deal becomes even less so.
