School Me On This Russia/Ukraine Kerfuffle

It’s wild to me that dude just took over a city with a population of 1+ million.

Imagine the Proud Boys taking over a city like Philadelphia or San Jose . So glad the extremist groups in the US are complete jokes.

Russia looking so damn weak through all this. Couldn’t conquer a country with a comedian as president. Military being overrun by a hotdog salesman. Russia never wanted the smoke with us. I’m surprised we haven’t initiated operation desert storm part 2 yet.

Who’s worse though? Putin or Wagner?
It's a hard question to answer considering that Putin has essentially outsourced the military aspect of his foreign policy to the group, which has caused Wagner to come into conflict with the very European countries they'll need recognition from if Putin is gone. Internationally, Wagner is an extension of Putin.

Not sure having a guy who murders people with sledgehammers take over a nuclear power is a particularly great long term outcome

Word is that Wagner is acting with support from some folks in Putin's government/military. As long as he can make the correct guarantees to the proper actors (NATO, China, Ukraine, India), Prigozhin might be able to get the international legitimacy he'll need to get Russia outside of the penalty box.

Russian politics is so crazy to me and there is so much to learn. I was watching a show the other day and basically all the oligarchs were made rich from the fall of the Soviet Union and Goldman Sachs basically came in and managed all of it.

I’m confused :lol. Either way it seems like this dude will eventually end up dead.

The rebellious Russian mercenary commander who ordered his troops to march on Moscow before abruptly reversing course will move to neighboring Belarus and not face prosecution, the Kremlin said Saturday, as part of a deal to defuse a crisis that represented the most significant challenge to President Vladimir Putin in his more than two decades in power.

Aren’t there people already calling for a rebellion in Belarus too with how they’ve been a puppet of Russia? Is Prigozhin gonna be completely silent there?

Prigozhin is gonna be the President of Belarus within a year or two, right?

I know zero haven't been keeping much on it, but if Wagner has ties to Putin would I be surprised if this was a ploy just figure out who was loyal to Putin, and Wagner was on that side of the issue? Nah.
