STAY/GET BACK IN SHAPE VOL 3.0 -- A New Niketalk = A New Thread

Yea that Monday crap is what has me 5 weeks into the new year and I've been to the gym 10 times. I have a BAD soda and chipotle addiction lol.

Soda is bad, cut it out completely.

Chipotle isnt bad. Ask for a little rice only (bowls, no burritos), little beans, load the protein and skip the sour cream and cheese.

For those interested in the Metcon 1's, I've just posted the following in the Metcon thread:

Just finished my first workout in the Metcon's.

And all I can say as a first impression ...... They are pretty awesome!

I haven't tried every possible movement yet obviously, but today's workout had a load of overhead squats in it which I would normally wear my lifters for so I thought I might as well test out the Metcons as they are supposed to have a solid feel and be very stable.

This certainly is the case. They felt rock solid on the OHS, no stability issues and you can really get your weight over your heels without thinking you are going to end up on your backside.
I know some people had concerns about them being too firm. To me, they don't feel completely lacking in cushioning. It is a firm ride, but there is still some give, especially in the forefoot so your feet aren't going to be wrecked after a few box jumps or a run. Flexibility in the forefoot area is good too.

One thing I did notice is they feel a bit heavier than expected. Not that they weigh a ton, they just aren't mega light.
In a way, they feel like a premium product; like when you hold a quality watch it has that weight to it that is satisfying to feel and hold. If that makes sense laugh.gif

Taking of premium, it might just be me, but the materials used and the construction is very good for a change, not flimsy mesh and cheap feeling pleather etc like some recent shoes have been. They feel their price if you get what I mean.

Anyway, I haven't had a chance to do that many movements (box jumps, running, burpees, C + J etc) yet so i'll update once i have had a bit more time.

400

Just tested my metcons too. Added 75lbs to my deadlift, 50lbs to my squat, and 25lbs to my bench. All while looking extra fly.

So i know this is a general question but I need help to get on a lifestyle change both eating and working out. Anybody have any tips on starting out?
Read, Read, Read,

there is so much information out there, start somewhere like bodybuilding.com, other then them trying to sell you things, they have great articles for people starting out, but you gotta dig.  You gotta learn about nutrition and exercise, Both are extremely important.

They are just shoes bros. Why does everything have to be "sheep". All the reviews have been positive. And they are $108 post tax.

Trying to change up eating regimen...

Breakfast: Banana + glass of OJ

Lunch/Liner: Avocado or Tuna + 2 pieces of toast

Dinner: ?? (something lightish + meat)

As always, drinking tons of water through out the day.

Been doing it for a week, it's alright.

Working out isn't the issue at all for me, it's always been the diet. Gotta clean it up and lower fat %.

Any tips? Appreciate everything.

How do I cut body fat and put on some more muscle??

Is this possible w/o cardio?

I have a physique like Kendrick Perkins before he lost weight and I want one like Dwight Howard

What should I/ should I not eat?

Now that I think of it, I'm happy with my size, I just want
-less fat in my thighs
-toned calves
-bigger chest
-bigger arms
-lose some mid section fat

Possible with no cardio? Yes. Assuming you lift weights. Cardio will speed it up though.

Calories in vs calories out, keep the diet in check and youll see results. Use myfitnesspal to track your calories.

1.you CANNOT spot lose if you wanna lose fat in your thighs you gotta lose fat all over.

2. Generally speaking losing fat and gaining muscle simultaneously is not something you should bank on. To gain muscle you have to up your calories which means gaining fat in some capicity. BUT let's say you have a new lifter those newb gains are so glorious that someone can put on muscle while losing fat

3. You wanna gain muscle lift weight its that simple 4 to 6 exercises 8 to 12 reps each set. Number of sets can vary on personal preference or number of exercises. Focus on compound movements. Leave all the fancy cable crossover ish for warmup a or later. Concentrate on getting under a bar b.

We have a 30 day plank challenge at work....

Never really messed with planking much, but I'm over 3:00 after 3 days. My goal is to get over 5:00, but we'll see how it goes.
