STAY/GET BACK IN SHAPE VOL 3.0 -- A New Niketalk = A New Thread

1 week with no meat in the books. a lot easier than I thought it would be. gonna try to go another week, then I'll prolly indulge in some bbq on Labor Day weekend. after that I may try to go a whole month if I'm feeling up to it

Any one got a quick plan for me, I got a baby coming in 6 weeks. So i need to get in some cardio but also get stronger since i'll prolly have to take minimum 3 weeks off

I have the sharp air fryer and it's great investment, especially when cutting.

As far as gym shoes years ago I bought a pair of new balance minimums and felt in love. Been rocking those ever since. For squats romaloes 2

first time deadlifitng since I took a month break from my lower back injury.

did both sumo (for the first time) and conventional. started from 115 and worked up to 185.

no pain, but the left cheek felt just a tad bit numbed. the real test is tomorrow though when I wake up to see how it feels

STOPPPP DEADLIFTING FAMMMMM

Did I read “stop deadlifting” in here?

Last week hit 495x2 and then a single.
Still shooting for 515 that I failed 2 months ago.

Lol. DL is like the single most beneficial exercise there is.

Could literally only do those and weighted dips and be gucci.

In for dl. All beltless conventional.

2x3 315
3x365
3x3 405
1x455
1x455

Deficit 3x315 then got tired and quit :lol

Tbar row 4x12
Hanging leg raise 4x12
Wide grip lat pull down 4x24

I stopped deadlifting over 225 since I herniated my disc last year. best decision I ever made, my back doesn't get those numbed sharp pains anymore.

Contrary to what most people may tell you in here............................
wait for it................................
You can get strong and/or built and NOT do deadlifts

This is pretty much true about any lift.
Ex. You don’t NEED squat to build you’re legs.

Exactly.
I couldnt tell you the last tine i squated more than 225. My legs look fine ajd very proportionate to my upper body.
I kill legs when i lift them but my ego liftung days are long over...
(Not to judge if you can lift heavy and for reps and depth more power to yoy...just not me anymore)
I have some good maxes in my life time.
515 squat
490 deadlift
340 bench..
But the older i get. And more life comes at me. I just cant keep up with those kinda lifts...

I stopped as well because I need to maintain my lower back mobility for other fitness practices which I find to get obstructed from deadlifts for me personally. Deadlifts are amazing but in some situations they do not work for everyone or don't always apply to every stage of the fitness journey.

lol im only 24. still got ways to go before I stop.

I'm 24 too and haven't DL more than 10 times in the last year. I never got super heavy (max was 435 at ~195), but I never felt like I was 100% comfortable every rep and I had issues with lower back pain/strains/tweaks before I eventually phased out BB conventional DL of my regular split.

I still do DL variations (DB straight leg, trap bar deficit, etc.), but the most I ever get up to is 3 plates, maybe 365.

I always look at the pros/cons of each lift and whether other lifts with better pros/cons for me personally work the same muscle(s) in similar ways (which is why I don't BB bench anymore either).

My goals are this point are squat focused and I'm at 2-3 squat days/week with substantial back training, so I really don't think I'm missing out on much in terms of development that I would've gotten from DL, but who knows.
