STAY/GET BACK IN SHAPE VOL 3.0 -- A New Niketalk = A New Thread

Did continuing your pace affect your temperature or being able to keep pace at all?

It was tough after mile two, which was prob a .25 mile after the bridge.

I haven’t ran an incline for long distance ever that high or that long.

I had a 7:45 pace first two miles but then my hips got tight from that new running form up and down the bridge that first time.

Second time around it was difficult and my pace slipped drastically for that.

gym story:

Dude asked me for a spot. Incline bench....90lb dumbbells....he was under 200lb bodyweight. So 90s are a lot. Dude says "im going for 6". So i help him get them up. He does one....decent ROM not great...not the worst. He can't get the second rep off his chest. Went down and 0 upward movement.

He drops them and is like "come on man". I was like uhhh did you want assisted reps? And he was like i could have used some help. I was like bro you didn't even start moving them for rep 2. I couldn't get you out of the hole by pushing your elbows from that low of a position.

Was i in the wrong....like a spot to me is help you get the last 2 reps or so but you have to at least be close to getting them. I was caught real off guard when he was slightly agitated by me not helping him.

I had a conversation like that yesterday in the gym.. To me a spot is if I'm benching for example and the weight is dropping.. I need a spot.. to help me lift the weight off my chest and rack it immediately..

However he wanted 6 help reps and he couldn't get one rep off properly because he had so much weight on the Bar knowing damn well he cant lift it..

Me:

So he asked somebody else and guess what that spotter just rack the weight immediately when old boy couldn't get no momentum from the first rep..

lol. i never understood why anyone needs a spot for db presses. if you cant do em then drop the weight. spotting is for safety reasons.

You weren’t wrong. That guy just doesn’t know how to workout.

Assisted reps aren’t really a thing with dumbbell press anyways. Unlike barbell bench once youre in the hole you gotta press that **** up by yourself. With barbell bench you can offer major help.

Personally I don't want a spot, if I can't do it then I can't do it. I will do what I can and drop the weight significantly and do a burn out set. Muscles aren't going to be built in one day, next time try again. I want to talk as little as possible in the gym, check out some eye candy in between sets and be out. To old to be working out with a partner and spending hours in the gym, got kids at home. Hence the switch to a home gym.

 This. After spotting one dude that hurt his wrist during the lift tried to blame me saying the liftoff was too much to one side. Like nah, these weirdos are on their own.
Lol hell naw. Then if I spot once I gotta do it like 4 times? I’m mid set got a dude whistling me over becuase he’s ready. Got their leg up like Captain Morgan Hands clapping and **** you got me all the way ****** up

It's on the spotter to tell you specifically how he wants to be spotted.

Yeah the dude needs to drop the ego/weight and not move up until he can hit at least 6 clean reps of a lower weight. So imo you did nothing wrong here.

Started a hypertrophy block yesterday. Just looking at the volume week 1 and GOT DAMN. It's 4x a week with 12 total exercise slots (3 a day, all barbell/DB based) and half of them are pressing. Others are split between squat/DL variations. PLUS there's a extra day with extra arm/ab/back/cardio work.

This should be a good time. :lol

So he wanted you to do all the work? Lulz

Seems like he was taking his frusteration out on you or something

I usually don't ask for a spot but if i do im always like "just don't touch the bar unless im going down. If i am stagnant let me suffer for as long as possible until i start going in the opposite direction" Then you grab the bar to pull it up and rack.

I have never asked for a spot on DBs though. I know some people need help getting them up if its incline or something. But yeah like if you want one half rep then 5 more assisted reps you might want to let me know that i am about to basically do a set with him

Anyone heard of Body Boss 2.0? Platform with resistance bands or Weider Ultimate Body Works? Looking for something on my Tuesday, Thursday days. Doesn't need to be heavy weight. Toning or HIIT.

Yeah I mean if you’re pressing 120’s or something I see why you’d want help getting them up but after that just drop them on the floor if you need to.

i only spot regulars. dudes will be specific. i always call and respond to regarding when to spot, if launch off help is needed, etc.

I hate spots and I hate spotting people.

At one point in time, I thought it was a privilege...but it's really a ticking time bomb. That's why I wore my cap down low and never made eye contact.
