STAY/GET BACK IN SHAPE VOL 3.0 -- A New Niketalk = A New Thread

that feel when your upper back is itchy

Deadlifted yesterday. Got two sets of 2 reps each at 345lbs. That was a personal record for me. I feel like i can do more but a lot of it has to do with my grip strength. That has been increasing since i started deadlifting once a week.

It's funny how mental these heavy lifts really are (heavy for me at least). I did the first set and really struggled. But if you can block everything else out and just kind of envision the lift and driving your heals through the ground and really snapping the weight up it makes things way easier.

I think il do shoulders traps...and maybe some bi's today.

Man...the feeling before starting your deadlifts is too much...I always get nervous as hell and imagine myself embarrassing myself in front of everyone:{ :lol After the first few reps my confidence goes up though, and I end up feeling strong as @#$% at the end :lol

For real. I was super nervous yesterday because id never done 345 before. So im standing over the bar like...if i try to pick this thing up and it doesn't move....im going to look real stupid.

I have to say, I've never seen better gains since I lowered the weights I used, increased the reps, focused on form and cut the rest between sets to 1 minute max. I do bicep curls with 20s, one arm dumbbell press with 50s and it feels DAMN good. I'm 6'1 202, and I can definitely push way more weight but I don't even see a reason to anymore. No point in gaining strength for no purpose.

Disagree with the last sentence

Had a SQUATS/DEADLIFTS day today.
Added some abs in between and after for some extra sweat.

I NEED YOUR HELP BRAHS.

I don't know how you guys are so damn strong. I mean I just started doing deads/squats as part of my routine about 4 weeks ago (3 years too late).
But i put a 45 on each side of the bar and that kills my lower back.
I can go all the way down on squats like 6 times at 135 lbs (including bar)...then the last 4 reps I'm really pushing it up.
I did 3 sets of those.

Is that good for my goal of gaining muscle and getting bigger?
(im not talking about eating, just the workout itself)

Or should I be doing less reps with more weight?
With deads I did the same 135 lbs...I went slow and tried to do proper form...I could do like 6 with slow proper form before i started to shake and stopped. I dont want to keep going if im shaking, i want every rep to be nice and proper.

But should I try to do more? I mean damn... you beasts are all talking about "Oh i just did 315 today on the deads...I went LIGHT..."
"Oh just another easy day with 345 lbs today..."

:| shows how weak i must be. 6 foot 2 inches, 180 pounds of pure weakness.

Will I get stronger at these soon? Or does it take a while? Ive never incorporated it consistently until now so Im not trying to be Hulk but when Im 200 pounds behind people who are like 6 inches shorter than me it definitely feelsbadman. :{

Did "back" this morning, was AMAZING up until my final set of T-bar rows.  I tweaked my back........I've always had lower back issues(pinched nerve), but today on my last rep, I felt/heard my lower back crack.  Jesus Christ my back hurts.  And I had to play it off, and re-rack my weights.......

back day. looking forward to the pullups. i hope its not too crowded so i can get to the bar.

I'm trying to cut and I'm using the MyFitnessPal app to help me track calories. Trying to eat a maximum of 2500-3000 calories a day.

My question is, how would you figure out how many calories for homecooked meals? I cooked chicken breast in the oven as well as some red potatoes but I have no clue how many calories they are. :lol

Don't even worry about it. I started off at 5'8 145 and I could barely squat or deadlift anything at all, despite having big legs for my size. Within 2 months my lifts went up by over 100 pounds on both, just by doing sets of 5 reps and adding 5-10 pounds each workout. Now that I built a good starting weight, I've increased my reps to build mass

Bruhs I know this is light work for some of ya, but I'm dead proud of my lifts today, my name is Elkin, maxed out on the last DL @ 255lbs :)

Quick question, I changed up my.cardio routine, now when I'm at the gym I'm.pouring sweat when I'm done. I can literally ring a bucket of sweat when I'm done, where as before my shirt would be kind of wet. Does this indicate that the new workout, with a lot more swear indicate its.more effective? Sorry for the noon question

Anyone know of a good strength training routine for a beginner to develop a base or can point me in the direction . Links would be helpful. Thanks.

Starting Strength by Rippetoe

Don't do it fam. You gonna' be lookin' like T-Rex with huge quads, bubble but and string bean arms. Unless you are built like Johnny Bravo, Starting Strength is not gonna' have you looking aesthetic.

Scroll down to the seventh post and decide if you wanna' look like that.

Nevermind, saw that you are interested in getting stronger. Yeah, it will work for that.
