If you’re just going to the gym a few times a week as a hobby then yes that all technique no strength stuff is true but at the competition level you need any advantage you can get
At the highest level guys are roided tf up, majority of them too

It’s not necessarily strength roids, it’s more the recovery and cardio ones

I’m talking from experience like pre 2018 when I stopped training too, it’s probably even worse now because the standards are way higher. Hell, they didn’t even drug test at IBJJF black belt world championships back then :lol:
Steroids are legal in Brazil too

I mean just look at the face of no gi bjj at the moment



sidebar/some what unrelated, while obviously de trained in the the second, it’s amazing how different one can look pumped up, while flexing, and with good lighting…

one of the things i’ve learned from just following people that talk about fitness & all the performance enhancing drugs & supplement protocols is that most people taking stuff do not look like they are on stuff, and the primary benefit of a lot steroids is better recovery and more ability to take advantage of that to train more

on a completely unrelated note, took a walk to the store to get a lil cardio in outchea in sunny southern california, it’s hot so i had the legs out (shorts above the knees but not approaching hoochie daddy status 😂, i got some respect for myself) and a nice young lady saw me walking offered me a ride 😏 home as i left the checkout (i declined tho, gotta get this light cardio in 😂😮‍💨). these squats & such paying off (at least that’s what i’m telling myself 😂, for all i know she trying to set me up, or felt sorry for me 🤣🤣🤣)

In the long run steroids have the opposite effect. Increases aging, breaks down muscles, tendons and cartilage leading to injuries, then the stuff on your heart. If youre trying to perform at a high level for a long career its probably not the way to go.

I walk going to work. It does save me some gas money. my bro in law bought a scooter to save his gas money though, and I'm heavier than him. what injustice this is.

We got one dude that bikes to work (like 12-15 miles one way). He doesn't lift but he does swim and predictably looks like a cardio ***. I'm good on that.

If money is too tight for gas just say that, but leave the Hollywood zombies out of it.

Travel gym is depressingly bad. One rack (mine), DBs only go up to 50, no cables, etc.


Still won't miss a session or slack off because nobody's around or everyone else wants to eat junk and drink beer.

For the NT body builders is this respectable weight? Puts on flame suit. I just wanna know for some perspective. I did 5 sets of 25 reps* on this.

Yea sorry 5 sets of 25 reps. I actually wasnt humble bragging. I dont lift with people. I used to be able to compare weights when I played football. Now its all self limited. I just lift as much weight as many times until it hurts. I can probably do 5 to 6 45 lb plates on each side for 8 to 10 reps but thats not going to make me sweat and burn enough.

Im terrible at benching so Im not mad at this. Long arms bad shoulder. I rep 225 comfortably but I need to be it needs to be on a stabilized bench. Less wiggle around the shoulders and elbows.

If it was challenging for you and made you feel accomplished then it’s great. You are your only competition. What is that about 195 on each side? Next time do 200 on each side, or 197.5 if your gym has 2.5s
