BB is a sport in the sense of dedication and being able to better yourself year in and year out but I wouldn't compare it to basketball, football etc... BB doesnt require any type of athleticism or being in good cardiovascular shape

I dont know how some people cant gain weight. I just had a solid 2k calorie breakfast that was the BOMB. Anyone need help gaining come see ya boy down here and I'll get ya RIGHT

Bodybuilding is one of the most misunderstood sports. So I cant blame most of yall for thinking the way you do

The fact of the matter is, majority of these guys started "bodybuilding" at a young age because they couldn't participate in a real sport.

what???????????

Phil Heath played basketball. With Jamal Crawford on his team.

How would u even know know they couldn't participate in a real sport???

you going too far with that.

But no i see bodybuilding as a beauty pageant.

Lifting is a sport

But bodybuilding no.

Alot of people lift and get big...... for maybe football, basketball, baseball, gynastics, track, etc....

But the bodybuilders who lift, lift to pose and be judged on there body. How is that a sport?

Nah...

i look at a sport as an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.

Never seen this before...but there was a girl in the gym this morning squatting 225 w/ great form.

If you have to exert energy for it to be sport then what is drag racing, horse racing, formula 1 racing?

This thread can be the worse sometimes.......

CAN WE GET BACK TO HELPING EACH OTHER?

Anyway, I'm just getting over a cold, plus I hurt my lat about a week and a half ago.  I can't perform any movements that require me to do overhead pull motions(wide grip pull ups/wide lat pull down).  If I try them, I get a sharp pain between the back of my tricep/under arm/lat.  Anybody ever experience this?

Pretty sure i said that. You must be bored.
Bored no. You said "lifting" is a sport, followed by statement where ppl lfit to get better at sports.  I stated lifting to improve performance itself is not a sport.  Pretty simple

I never said lifting to improve performance was a SPORT!

I told you "Olympic Lifting"

I said bodybuilders lift to be judged on there body which is not a sport.

Basketball players, football players, track runners, etc. Lift to play the sport

Do you understand yet?

Never misunderstood.  You stated "lifting is a sport" which is a broad statement where I disagreed.

Thats where you're wrong. Try posing while being dehydrated and at your weakest state. Posing is the hardest thing about bodybuilding. Your muscles take up a **** load of oxygen and blood just to flex. And im not talking about standing in the mirror flexing your arms. Im talking about REAL posing. Posing that alot of pros take classes for. Its not just walking around the stage strutting your stuff like a pageant.
Ronnie Coleman tore his triceps when he won an olympia hitting the floor in victory

Branch Warren tore his quad tendon just from stepping the wrong way while walking when he was close to a show.
Im putting these examples out there to show how weak and brittle your muscles and tendons get when prepping or competing. And then to pose on top of that.
People pass out on stage its so tough. I remember in one of Phil Heaths vids, he was talking about an Olympia. He said he just had to keep telling himself "Dont pass out"

So yea, you have to be athletic and you have to be in good cardiovascular shape.
Im not even gonna derail this thread anymore but you have no idea what good cardiovascular shape is if you think posing is in the same world as being in good cardiovascular condition. Im around runners all the time and thats good cardio shape. I bet theres few IFBB pros that could even do a 5k without passing out lol I would lap them and Im not that fast.

/ end rant

Back to helping others and reaching my goals.

At least this is an actual discussion and not nonsense talk about the best protein.

This thread struggles with actual discussions.
