The College Basketball Post

I still maintain Wiltjer wouldn't be that big a difference maker. Wish he would've stayed, and Cal wanted him to, just think UK's problems are bigger. Not that good of a shooter and if Derek Willis can't even see the floor, when would Kyle?

Cal chooses not to play Wilis. Out of all the non sense Forde spewed in that article, he hit on the nail when he brought up Cal saying "We may have 3 teams, so 15 guys that can play." I don't think we've gone past #8 on our bench all season. 4 freshmen averaging over 30 mins per game doesn't make that much sense to me if you believe the bench is that deep.

Wiltjer would've got his time no doubt about it. He would've been their main shooter this season.

Discussed Cal on PTI,Wilbon says he's gone after this season..Thoughts? Besides the "challenge" of coaching in the League, why would he bolt for the NBA?

I honestly don't see him leaving for the NBA. I think UK is the last stop for Cal unless the Heat fire Spoelstra :lol

The hate for Craft is
roll.gif

But no hate on TJ at all?? Hmm...
Yup.

Cal has repeatedly said he isn't at UK past a decade and he isn't going to just stop coaching. He already won a ring, if he gets 8 million from the Knicks this year and those first few cushion years of rebuilding with zero expectations that's a cushy job especially with the tight relationship he has with a lot of the NBA superstars and the Knicks have **** tons of cap space with Melo leaving and Amar'e and Tyson up after next year.

Just saying...

Have you been to NY before? First few cushion years & zero expectations ain't happening, especially with that fanbase and media. NY is looking for a splash, they aren't looking to rebuild.

Relationships with NBA susperstars doesn't mean much either. Outside of Lebron, if he opts out, who else is he going after? Wall, Cousins, Davis, Rose, etc are all locked into big contracts.

The Knicks had a ton of cap space before and look what they did with it, I don't see things being any different this time especially if Melo leaves.

If the majority of this team returns for next season no way Cal leaves UK.

Umm, I from here. Melo's leaving so next year they are going to be rebuilding regardless, there isn't a discussion. We will be the worst team in the league next year probably and we won't have any cap space regardless of what happens. Plus, the CAA stuff. If Donnie Walsh got a few year to rebuild no reason Cal couldn't get a few years as well.

NYC sports fans are actually fine with rebuilding it is the owner's who have the issue.

Cal will be an NBA coach again before it's all said and done whether it is with the Knicks or not. College will always be there for him if he wants.

I know you are, I was just shocked you said a few cushion years and zero expectations in NY :lol

I really see him taking the Pitno route. If he tries to redeem himself by going back to the NBA it would have to be the perfect situation and IMO it wouldn't be with the Knicks.

There is no cushier situation than a "rebuilding" job, which no matter what happens, the Knicks will be forced to do over the next couple years. Rebuilding means when a team suck the coach can say "that's the plan" no expectations etc. Think your underestimating that.

Not underestimating it at all, the Knicks went through enough rebuilding when Isaiah was in charge, the fans are ready for results now. They're looking for a veteran coach with a championship resume.
Cal had ZERO success in the NBA so I don't think he's the guy they're looking at in order to bring some life back into the Garden.

First off,i dislike OSU with a passion,And almost every player who has played for them in the last 6-7 years.. But bein Honest,Craft plays with enough Heart to hav a decent Basketball career(as a backup).. He is liked so much in CB because the dude play D,d*** good D at that.. IMO,he will be okay..

Just twice,E.J. Floreal did get 2 minutes in one game and 1 minute in another he took one shot and made it dudes shooting 100% for the season :smokin
My only problem with the bench minutes this season is Polson who's getting way too much PT he's averaging 9.42 minutes of playing time per game, shooting 33.33 percent and 1.04 points. What really kills me is he is out there running point and averaging 0.625 assists per game.....Marcus Lee needs more playing time, granted they don't play the same position but he has almost double Polsons points in exactly half the amount of playing time.

Speaking of Willis he averages more points in way less time than Polson also.

of course Cal chooses not to play Willis, you don't think there's reasons behind it? Polson plays in 2 minute spurts... like it or not, who's gonna spell Andrew?

Cal will eventually leave for the NBA, but you think his ego is gonna allow him to go lose a million games for the next 3 years with a team w/o draft picks? He'll go to the league to prove a point, not for a "cushy" job. Every year he's leaving for the NBA, though.

He's not going to get an Elite NBA job though. Except for struggling franchises like the Knicks, no one is dying to have Cal as there coach. Even if Brooks gets fired from OKC, they wouldn't even sniff Cal's direction. NYC makes every sense for him as a landing spot. And we do have our no. 1 pick next year which when Melo leaves will certainly come with strong, strong lottery odds.

it's just that every year there's a job that can be painted as "perfect sense." Nets, Bulls, now the Knicks. so who knows?

The Knicks are the only team that will show him the money he wants with the possible power in the organization that he'll get through CAA connections.

So you really believe the Knicks are willing to put all their marbles in the Calipari basket and offer him 8 million per year plus power in the front office???
