The College Basketball Post

Ohio State completely put themselves in this 11-point hole. Nervy start missing at least three easy layups (opening six minutes). I remember Tate missing two from point-blank range. Kaleb Wesson picked up two quick fouls and was a nonfactor up to halftime. Buckeyes need a secondary scorer to step up and help KBD in the second half. Holtmann would expect it to be Jackson or Tate, the latter having tons of experience as a senior. This being his second tournament appearance.

Defensively they really allowed Norvell to settle into a comfort zone far too easily. Two wide-open looks in the opening stages. That's not what Holtmann wants to see against a shooter. Otherwise the Buckeyes have done a good job on Johnathan Williams and Tillie.

Hachimura had a stellar half after playing poorly vs. UNCG. Aggressive offensively and very active on the defensive end. Two blocks stood out for me in particular. Took two spot-up jumpers that didn't fall, but at the minimum showed tO$U he's not afraid to use that from his arsenal.

Malik Newman cooking for KU. He’s played pretty well this year.
The obvious 22 points aside, his dribble penetration left Mykhailiuk unguarded for a wide-open trey. Five-point swing there. Sanogo couldn't secure the offensive rebound for a third chance on that possession. KU comes down and Newman gets the Seton Hall defense to overcollapse.

Tech reminds me of South Carolina last year...Keenan Evans putting em on his back like Thornwell and Zhaire Smith the sidekick like PJ Dozier

Another note from the Kentucky/Buffalo game:
Coach Cal made some subtle defensive adjustments that didn’t go unnoticed. It was right around the time Clark was getting hot and attempting to take over the game. I believe Buffalo got within six points at that juncture.

Kentucky showed some light full-court press for a possession or two just to stem the tide. Then went into half-court zone forcing Buffalo to adapt offensively. Those two defensive changes helped kill Clark’s and Buffalo’s surging momentum.

Notes from Sparty/Bucknell:
Horrible bit of officiating in the second half of this game. First off, the refs generally had no control and allowed the players to get too chippy. I’m all for hard-nosed basketball, but proceedings often went beyond that limit yesterday.

Secondly, that fifth foul call against Zach Thomas wasn’t worthy of a technical. I watched numerous replays, all he did was throw his hands up in protest and I’m sure mouthed something not so friendly. But it’s the NCAA Tournament. Emotions are running high, especially for the seniors where every game could be their last one played.

The officials know Thomas is Bucknell’s best player. They know he’s sitting on four fouls. Let that one go, guys. If Thomas made physical contact with a ref or threw the basketball at an opponent, then fine, T him up. Instead, they ended the kid’s collegiate career on a dubious note.

Izzo and Michigan State did a good job getting in Foulland’s head. Had major trouble dealing with the size and length of Jackson, Ward and Tillman.

Basically turned Thomas into a one-man show offensively.

UH-MIchigan is a master class of coaching. Michigan can't shoot to save their lives right now though and Houston has Rob Gray.

This Michigan game is an awful watch. Zero flow whatsoever to this game—too many damn whistles on both squads.
