Regardless of the players decision, you have to guess Stern's ultimatum and refusal to hear the union's amendments or rebuttal was an awful move by the league and Stern. They called his bluff and now look what happened.

By the union dissolving, the players are making a better attempt to keep the season, if they tried to decertify, it would have been 45 days until they even vote on it. It will still be a court issue, but it does speed up the process.
