true enough. defense back then was air tight that you can barely breathe. I watched so many games where Reggie ran into multiple screens just to get away from his defender. also, the infamous Jordan shove in that Bulls-Pacers series. don't let that lanky frame fool you. Reggie is a damn competitor.

Was defense air tight? They weren’t even guarding the perimeter . Reggie walked in to a lot of shots. I’m here nor there on the Reggie argument (His numbers a lil iffy…but a #1 option on multiple good playoff teams means something)…but the idea that the defense was so much tougher or air tight… I’m not rolling with.

Officiating was different. Shot clock was different.

That's really all I look at when it comes to comparing statistics to today. So yea if someone scored 20 ppg back then, 100% they'd score 30 today.

That's really all I look at when it comes to comparing statistics to today. It's impossible to compare. So yea if someone scored 20 ppg back then, 100% they'd score 30 today.
Shot clock was the same. There are other differences

well agree to disagree.

Not really. For some reason, people refuse to look at the amount of minutes being played . AI used to lead the league at like 42mpg. All the top scorers were close to 40mpg.

Right now…you got guys around 33-36mpg.

It always balances out. ALWAYS. Weather it was the crazy pace of the 70s & 80s…or the slowed down pace of the 90s. There will always be some factor that equalizes it. It’s why we can watch some players who played in multiple eras, and nothing changed from individual scorers statistically for the most part.

Or how you will see a record being broken since…1970 something or 1980something

Reggie Miller has become underrated historically.

because of his somewhat unorthodox style of play, as a non-ball dominant elite offensive weapon.
and he's an annoying announcer and a cornball.

once Reggie took over as the best player on the pacers in '90 they jumped from a pretty below average offense
to consistently top 10 in the league.

his teams offences were 3.4 points better than league average
and his efficiency was a total outlier in the league at the time.

Reggie is the first real gravity guy, in terms of his impact on spacing,
his mere presence on the court created openings that fueled high level offense for a decade.

also he was an incredible playoff performer.
and consistently played way better in the playoffs, increasing both his usage and efficiency

career 600 TS% in the late 90's is pretty nuts.

That’s the same level of racism brothers throw at white players all the time.

Like when Dennis Robman said Larry Bird, a Mt Rushmore Player would be just another player if he was black.

Or the constant low-key sneak dis guys like Luka Doncick, Dirk Nowitzki, hell even forgotten guys like Mark Price or Steve Nash get.

White dudes that literally dog walked the vast majority of superior black athletes throughout the league.

I experienced it coming up in basketball whether it was BCI or AAU, or even if I jumped in random pick up games on the west side of Chicago, just to get some healthy challenge. Always underrated, until you’re out there busting their ***.

I love Kyrie Irving, yet he said it’s racist that Jerry West is the logo. I’m like why? Why is there no accusations of racism for that? In basketball the white dude is the minority.

In terms of shooting guards, Jerry is the fourth best ever, if you have him as a point guard, he’s like the fifth best ever.

And unlike a contemporary loser like say Oscar Robertson, Jerry West was a better teammate, leader, clutch player, and defender. If anything you would want a white guy to be the logo, because it appeals to white viewers who wouldn’t necessarily be as invested because they don’t see themselves represented in the league full of predominantly black players.

If anything, it’s usually basketball racism is hating on white guys. Let’s not get it twisted

Is it possible that Klay Thompson could have done this as the best player on a team?

maybe...maybe not?

I lean not,
Klay doesn't draw fouls or finish at the rim like reggie,
and isn't as deadly from floater range.

but even if you think he could have.
it's all hypothetical.

Reggie actually did it, imo that has to count for something.
