Thanks, Hare.

Not at my desktop, or Id post info... but Sony is making Vita a must buy for me with their announcements today.

Just caught up with all the news today from Gamescom.
Man where do I begin.

I'm so pumped about cross Play - I'm buying all 3 games announced for cross play day 1. I wasn't expecting the Vita titles to be free with the PS3 ones.

Tearaway, Rain and Puppeteer don't look bad either.

For anyone without a Vita, the 2nd half of the year has more than enough games to justify one now

Call of Duty Vita Release Window, Details, Bundle
Holy cow, they showed footage.
by Greg Miller AUGUST 14, 2012

UPDATE: PlayStation finally showed footage of Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified for PlayStation Vita at the end of its Gamescom press conference. The trailer was from the first-person perspective and featured a wide array of guns, stealth kills and explosions. So, it's COD, all right.

Original story follows...

We still haven't seen footage of Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified, but thanks to a Gamescom presentation from PlayStation, we do know some details about the Vita game.

Coming this November, Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified will pack single-player missions set between Black Ops and Black Ops 2. On top of that, Call of Duty Vita will support four-on-four wi-fi multiplayer that includes team deathmatch and Kill Confirmed (where you kill people and have to pick up their dog tags). Maps are built for the Vita, and PlayStation is promising touch screen gadgets and Near features.

On top of all that, there will be a Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified Vita bundle. The handheld included will pack a customized COD back panel. The game will be in there, too.

Killzone: Mercenary Announced for Vita
“A first-person shooter not possible on any other platform.”
by Andrew Goldfarb AUGUST 14, 2012

During its Gamescom 2012 press conference today, Sony announced Killzone: Mercenary, an all-new Killzone game for Vita.

Created specifically for Vita by Killzone developer Guerrilla Games, Sony describes the game as “a first-person shooter not possible on any other platform.” A live-action trailer showed off a character named Justus Harkin and a Helghast helmet. Gameplay shown later included touch controls.

Killzone Vita was first hinted at when the Next Generation Portable (which later became Vita) was originally announced. We later heard that Guerrilla games had three projects in the works and that Killzone Vita was one of them.

More recently, we heard in May that Sony was recording a teaser for a new Killzone game, which appears to be the live-action trailer shown off today.

More information on Killzone: Mercenary will be revealed in the coming months

Sony Announces New PS3 Exclusive Until Dawn
And it's looking very survival horror-ish.
by Colin Moriarty AUGUST 14, 2012

At Sony’s PlayStation Press Conference at Gamescom, the long-rumored game Until Dawn was revealed. We last wrote about it mere days ago, when we reported on the discovery of a renewed trademark for the game’s title.

Sony second-party developer Supermassive Games is working on the PlayStation Move-enabled survival horror game that seems to be mechanically based around the use of a flashlight. It looks surprisingly crisp and dark.

The game is fully playable at Gamescom, so expect hands-on impressions of the game in the coming days.

Rain Announced for PlayStation Network
Sony Japan invites you to an invisible world.
by Greg Miller AUGUST 14, 2012

PlayStation's Gamescom press conference debuted three new games, and one of them was the rumored Rain (working title). Developed by Sony's Japan Studio, Rain casts you as a little boy. You're working to save a little girl when you become invisible -- gameplay showed footsteps through puddles and the invisible boy bumping into things.

However, when it rains, we can see the silhouette of the boy and then platform/puzzle solve his way through the world. Other creatures -- presumably enemies -- are also revealed by the rain, so the boy is far from alone.

Sony Announces Puppeteer
“Welcome to the theater of the strange and fantastic.”
by Andrew Goldfarb AUGUST 14, 2012

During its Gamescom 2012 press conference today, Sony announced Puppeteer, a new game from Studio Japan. The game takes place in “the theater of the strange and fantastic” and aims to “awaken the imagination of all children.”

According to Sony, while most games involve moving through the world, Puppeteer instead moves around you. All action takes place on the same stage and there are “surprises in every scene” including “weird and wild situations.”

Puppeteer follows a boy who has been carried away by the Moon Bear king into a castle where he’s transformed into a puppet. He soon begins a quest to find a pair of magical scissors, which appear to be his primary weapon in the game. He will be able to lose his head, which he must then replace.

For now, few other details have been revealed, but keep checking back for more updates as they’re announced.

Play PSone Classics, Control the PS3 with the Vita
Vita Firmware 1.80 coming this month.
by Greg Miller AUGUST 14, 2012

Sony has announced that PlayStation Vita firmware 1.80 is coming August 28th in North America and bringing a slew of features.

First and foremost, firmware 1.80 will allow PSone Classics to be played on the PlayStation Vita, but it will also allow users to control their PlayStation 3 with the handheld. Here's the official breakdown from the press release.

Control the home screen and some features in applications, such as Video, Music, or Settings, using the buttons on PS Vita.
Variable speed playback, fast-rewind and fast-forward, and repeat play will be supported in the Video application.
Music playlists which are imported from PlayStation 3 (PS3) or iTunes 1 under Music application will be supported.
"Cross-Controller" icon will be added to the LiveArea under the Remote Play application to enable users to play PS3 format software by using their PS Vita as a controller. (Depends on title, both PS3 and PS Vita software titles will be required.)

Remote play never worked well with the PSP and it still doesn't work well with Vita :smh:
