Thoughts on the Johnathon Martin - Ritchie Incognito situation?

I just want some of you to answer this question for me...

Do you REALLY think that Incognito wanted to **** in Martin's mouth, slap his mother and kill him? Because I'm pretty sure that's what you guys are getting at.

PPl thinking Incognito making $9/ HR or something, comparing NFL players to regular folks and their behavior is completely stupid, but somehow we think paying people with minimal education millions of dollars to pay organized games will somehow subdue them and make them model citizens.???

No one likes Incognito........Nobody approves or condones his bullish behavior, but football is the most popular sport in America for a reason, his whole life he has been given preferential treatment based on his size and his ability to perform on the field, to think there isnt a Richie Incognito on every NFL team is just short sighted

BTW, these men were Teammates on the O line, you know how much time these men spend together? If you were able to text him, you must have exchanged numbers? Incognito bullied him out of his phone number too?

Anyway, I agree with the consensus of the discussion, Incognito was excessive, and no one should feel unsafe at work, but Martin as a Stanford educated man had to know his safety or the safety of his family was never in danger............

I don't agree with Martin challenging, fighting, bringing weapons whatever to try to get even but at some point, you gotta call someone out when you fold the way he did.

I never understood comparing the culture of pro sports to that of corporate America.

Please tell my how the NFL isn't a corporation, and these guys aren't employees.

These guys have the same rights as you and I. Do guys fight? Yes, are there repercussions for a minor squabble/disagreements. Probably not.

THIS ISN'T A MINOR INCIDENT!

Throwing fist is a most illogical action a person could take in this situation. I'm sure Martin went through the pros and cons before reporting Incognito.

What if he fights Incognito and he gets hurt?
What if Incognito gets hurt?

As a fan, if you hear of a player getting hurt due to an altercation, what do you think as a fan?

Martin had more to lose getting into a physical altercation with Incognito.

Throwing a punch/fighting Incognito would have solved nothing. First of all, we don't know if Martin would have won. If he lost, Incognito would probably use that as ammo and make the situation worse. If he won, Martin would have been suspended, fired, released, one of those. Martin went through with it the smartest way possible and made sure Incognito wouldn't be harassing him anymore.

You've never said in jest to one of your friends that you were going to "kill them"?

You really think he wanted to **** in Martin's mouth and slap his mother? C'mon man...I've heard worse, and those people weren't actually joking like Incognito was.

And if you're that offended by him using the N word in the way he was using it then you either must be a long time removed from college, never have went or been a loner your whole life. It's basically commonly accepted around most circles depending on if you're cool with the person or not.
I guess every 16-25 year old white chick should be condemned for their actions on social networks.

WUT????!!!????

You can't be serious.

Most "bullies" ease up after being stood up to. Even if they get the better of somebody. Because they know they ain't gonna be able to pop **** no more without a fight.

That goes back to grade school.

And why on EARTH do you dudes keep saying he would have gotten in more trouble for fighting? Do you know teammates fight ALL THE TIME? **** happens in every sport and most of them don't leak past the locker room.

A sucker is a sucker period. We can argue all day long about what the "right thing" to do was...but at the end of the day nobody should ever allow somebody to get to THAT level of "bullying". No way in the world you can justify that. I don't give a **** how you're "wired". A monk wouldn't let nobody treat them like a ***** for that long.

Exactly, thats all martin had to do was stand up for himself, wasnt TO allegedly "bullied" by hugh douglas and spanked that ***

buc em what's wrong with you? seriously, you're making no sense at all and every consecutive post of yours is making me believe that you are indeed trolling

the scenario you're explaining (re: white kids using the n word the way they would hear in rap songs for instance) has absolutely no relation to this scenario which was riddled with vitriol and aggression

just stop it dude. you're giving the impression that you're not thinking about this in a coherent manner at all

I really don't think the racial stuff was a big thing in the locker room, TMZ video shows Pouncey laughing and carrying on with him at that bar

Incognito was on the radio talkin bout how he and Pouncey felt like Tannehill should buy the whole OLine jet skis because they protect his life so he took his credit card. The host on the show was baffled at what he was hearing .. not sure if the audio was new or old, heard it on espn radio.

Here's Bart Scott's take on it:

Incognito treated the locker room like the trap and it seems like all those other teammates backing him were on his payroll :{

Using the Pounceys as a measuring stick for good judgement is a very bad idea :lol

How does this compare to being called a half N'?

:{ C'mon man.

Apparently, you're fine with being degraded.

two different situations though

pouncey definitely appears to be abetting and aiding incognito's actions while martin bore the brunt of them

Please.

Some people aren't built for confrontation. That's just how it is. I don't view them as weak or anything. It's just their nature. Seems to me Martin would have rather kept quiet instead of confronting him because he thought it wouldn't have been effective. By all accounts Martin has been painted as a "gentle giant" - do you think if Martin stepped aside and peacefully asked Incognito to stop that would have helped at all?

I'm not feeling the bully term. This is harassment. You can't get bullied at that age. Most of this **** wasn't bullying its criminal behavior.

Someone WILL pick incognito up. I think the victim will end up worse off long term

Athletes live in a diff world than me and you.

The Miami organization is toxic word to the hooker question

If the guy was raised by someone who went to harvard it's easy to see why the end result ended the way it did. But at the same time people saying a nobody should have fought one of the "leaders" of the team. That wouldn't be a good look most likely.

Once again this isn't bullying.

Buc Em still doesn't get it :{ :lol

Saying it the way somebody says it in a rap song is totally different than the way Incognito was saying it. Neither one is right but that's a whole different topic.

Seriously, If he left YOU a message like that you would be cool with it?

Wait, telling people you want to kill him and hurt their family is common against friends? DAMN

I'm saying. :lol

I've been with my boys plenty times saying some crazy stuff. Nobody ever says some **** like "I'll kill you and slap your mother". Those are fighting words where I'm from.

Why do most people talk as if they ever got paid to play professionally?

Ya'll comparing, high school and college locker rooms to a pro locker room, :lol

Even in some D1 locker rooms, it is very business like. Verbal spats happen all the time, fights on the field happen often, fights in the locker room DO NOT happen, and when they do IT IS A BIG DEAL and it often doesn't reflect well on the individuals involved, doesn't matter who is wrong or right.

Most of you have never even stepped into a professional locker room to even speak on it. VERY BUSINESS LIKE, and there are a lot of suits that keep it that way.

Agreed, but I don't think it was that big of an issue in the locker room especially since guys were coming to Richie's defense. However it goes back to the type of culture that was breeding there.

Just curious did Martin complain about racial tension/harassment to the organization?

Really? thats embarrassing. I choose not to associate myself with somebody who allows themselves to get disrespected like that.

This whole story IMO regardless of how it was handled should have been an inside problem and handled within the guy is a scumbag im glad he got what he got but not surprised it leaked hey looks like the circus took its talents to south beach instead of my jets
