I'm wondering what else people are expecting devices to do at this point. I legit think they've peaked. Like 85% of people in life are already obsessed with these things and can't put them down... what more could it possibly do?

Which is why I think the innovation from this point forward is the budget and midrange market. If OnePlus comes with a QHD display on the OP4 and keeps it under $500, I think it's pretty much a wrap

A wrap for tech geeks

The average person is never buying A one plus

Exactly, a wrap for guys like us who frequent this thread. To be honest, I could care less what the average person buys or uses

The buying patterns of the average person is what drives the industry.
This is true, but I feel there will always be phones catered to the enthusiasts. That's one of the biggest reasons I am sad to see the nexus brand give way for the commercialized Pixel one.

I agree to certain extent, but innovations always come out of left field and without warning such as the AppStore, force-touch, capacitive-touch tech, 2.5D glass/edge display, HDR camera mode, various UI enhancements. In other words, we can't see beyond the horizon. For right now, it's a bit stagnant, but who knows what's around the corner.

Apparently some fella has had 5 XLs that had speaker problems. Bad enough to where after Google sent him #5 they told him to just buy another phone.

 We've been following the plight of Mark Buckman. He's the Google Pixel XL

owner who has been producing videos of the audio problem that has afflicted not one, not two, not three, not four but five Pixel XL units that he has owned. According to Buckman (and from the evidence we have seen on video), the speaker on the Pixel XL tends to produce static and distorted sounds at high volume levels. Buckman also discovered that this is occurring on the smaller Google Pixel

models as well.

Yesterday, we told you that Google had finally acknowledged the issue, which we hoped would lead to a software update containing a fix. Instead, Mr. Buckman was stunned when he read an email sent from the company. Google was offering him a refund with the return of his latest Pixel XL.

By offering the refund, it would seem that Google doesn't feel confident that it will be able to deliver a Pixel XL without the sound issue. As we told you the other day, Mark came up with a workaround that involved flashing a custom ROM. For many of you out there, this is too complex of a solution, especially since it could result in the loss of your warranty.

At the moment, Google's solution to this issue is to give Buckman his money back and allow him to pick a new phone from another manufacturer.  But that was not Buckman's goal. He was hoping that at the end of the day, support from Google would allow him to keep the Pixel XL, but that support doesn't appear to be coming. He says that he is willing to give the Pixel XL another chance, all he wants is a better experience. Is that too much to ask for? Google apparently thinks so.

Seems weird that he's the only person with this issue and he had it 5 times.

I would not even allow a company to waste my time like that, after maybe the 2nd try I would just demand a refund

Battery isn't an innovation, you already got phones with 5100mah batteries.

They need to just stop playing papis in tha states with these weak *** 3000mah joints :{

What browsers are you guys using? Naked Browser is iffy with my current phone. I can't long press the capacitive buttons to bring up the menu and the pictures I save don't show up anywhere.

Looks like Nokia will live up to its reputation of bringing the best to its smartphone buyers. The yesteryears smartphone king recently confirmed that it would be making its return to the smartphone business with Nokia Android smartphones somewhere in March 2017. According to the reports, Nokia’s Android smartphone will be showcased at the Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona, Spain in late February.

HMD Global, a Finnish company that currently holds the right over Nokia’s logo has already unveiled the first new Nokia device – the Nokia 150 feature phone.

However, a new leak (two pictures) originating from the Chinese social website Weibo apparently says that HMD is working on a premium Nokia Android smartphone dubbed the Nokia P. The Nokia P is rumored flagship device Nokia stable that is expected to released in early 2017.

According to Weibo, the flagship device will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor coupled with the Adreno 540 graphics processing unit. The chipset is said to offer download speeds of up to 1Gbps and come with 6GB of RAM. The phone in question appears to sport a metal body with an anodized finish. The pictures reveal the front and back panels of the phone, with the Nokia branding on the rear.

Further, it will boast a 23MP camera with a sensor made by Carl Zeiss, the well-known German manufacturer of optical systems. If previous rumors are to be believed, the Nokia P smartphone will sport a QHD display, i.e. a display featuring a resolution of 2560 by 1440 pixels. The Nokia P might come in 5.2-inch and 5.5-inch sizes and feature IP68 certification for water and dust resistance suggests previous rumors.

We have to take the new leaked information with a pinch of salt as not all Weibo leaks are genuine. But considering that Nokia is making a comeback, it has to be a jaw-dropping device which will awe and shock it’s buyers. And Nokia P flagship Android smartphone looks like one.

This is the first year in 4 years I am sticking with my phone for a 2nd year since the pixel is underwhelming and not worth the price tag to me and nothing else really catches my interest (plus I'm on google fi since I couldnt get tmobile signal in my work building), but the battery life on my 6P has become pure trash :{

Only thing saving me is having 2 rapid chargers and an extra usb c cable hooked up to my work laptop :rolleyes
