Yooo, Kanye on Sway in the Morning. (updated)

Ralph Lauren is a staple, which is any designers ultimate goal. Kanye introduced Ralph Lauren to you new school cats because if you honestly believe Ralph Lauren wasn't hot before Kanye; you need to do your homework.
how can he do his homework when kanye hadn't made pens hot yet?

I'm convinced all the dudes in here riding Kanye are 18 year old teeny boppers.

Changing demographics of NT I guess.

Much respect to sway for not losing his cool. If I was in his position I would've snapped.

Where can I find the interview with charlamane
wshh or youtube.  That interview was all hype.  He was actually more understandable in that interview compared to all the others.

Dude is like a female tho.  He gave up his very best slurp action to these corporations, and now they refuse to kiss him after wards.  So now he's running around telling everybody how small they where.

But I do understand that whole royalties issue a 110%, and his slave concept.  A lot of people don't realize that a lot of these companies are under umbrella companies that make it impossible to infiltrate there industries.  In some cases.  Fashion I don't think is one of those cases.  The music industry on the other hand is a defiant.

To be real if someone or a corporation is making more money off of you then you are well then consider yourself a slave.  I think that's what he was trying to get at in that BC interview

i remember when i met Kanye, Christina Millian, and Nick Cannon at Dave & Buster's (Orange, CA) circa 2002. Kanye was mad cool, and nobody but hip hop heads knew about him. However, at the time, Kanye was very relevant in NT's hip hop threads. In fact, i vividly remember an NT'er having a avatar that had Ye with White on White AF1s, so when I saw Kanye at Dave & Buster's, I asked him what he knew about Nike's. He said, "not much." (LOL) Fast Forward to today's interview with Sway - I couldn't help but crack up when I heard him say he was the reason for Jordan Retros being so successful.

anyway, the "celebrity" that I'd credit for influencing me to get retro J's is Kobe. I was in awe when Kobe started wearing J's, especially the Laker Cement III PE's.

I was really into Dunk SB's at the time, but damn... Kobe just re-ignited the love for J's I had when I was a youngin growin up, and my mom couldn't afford to get me them J's. :smokin

The Gawd. :x :smokin

Kanye West is a creative person with bigger dreams in life. His father a former Black Panther and mother a Professor of Englsh so don't tell people dude is dumb or a moron or ghetto because he is far from it. He is a artisian performer, theatrical live rapper, creative designer, has creative ideas that he shares with people to make an impact on modern society, and obviously he loves the arts. He made awesome beats and influenced a whole generation in terms of the pop and hiphop industry. When College Dropout came out dude wore Polo Ralph Lauren and changed the way music sounded. Now its Drake season and Kanye influenced the way his songs sound and what it means for a classic awesome body of work. He also has classic albums as evident of My Twisted Dark Fantasy. Dude has a lot of creative ideas that can maybe impact the world positively so let him do his grind. See what he puts out and wait on it. Why do people think that a diamond is a girls best friend when people in London don't give a **** about diamond in engagement rings? Why are beamer, benz, bentley the car to have for us dudes? Its just a mindset like ya'll think a black person can't make it in fashion design or a black person can't skate and play hockey...fall back ya'll!

Did dis dude just do dis?

that freestyle was atrocious :{

To his defense, he wasn't in the right state of mind.

why is Kanye trying to be ralph lauren when he made ralph lauren hot! nobody was rocking the teddy bear sweaters and polo fleeces before he started rockin em, why is he trying to be someone who is only relevant because of him?

swidd

I hope you're trolling

We should all take the time and bow our heads and thank Ye for inventing timbs, ears and ralph lauren

Amen

He wonders why no one takes him seriously.

Why all these interviews all of a sudden.  The label on his heels to produce better sales?  Dude has gone crazy on just the amount of interviews he's done in the recent months.

Sway the OG wasnt having NONE of that. Oakland came out :smokin

& :rollin @ Charlamegnes baffled faces

can we all start posting your ages at the end of every post? Some of the pro-KANYE posts here are SO APPALLING and i think it's bc of a generation-gap; NT is almost 15 years old, and there has to be members just not in the same frame of mind as others.

AGE: 32

what the hell did i just read

Man, this is why I'm posting less and less on NT.
Can't even have sensible discussions.
Extremes coming from both sides.
Not even riding Kanye like that, but to not recognize his influence is silly.

Excluding the Ninjahood type cats and older New Yorkers, Timbs weren't popping like that until recently. Especially in the South. (Texas)
Now I literally can't turn my head without seeing a pair. So for the middle and suburban class, I do accredit Kanye for that. If not him, who?
Before Kanye, I had never seen white sorority chicks wearing Timbs.
Now I see them all the time with chicks trying to look like Kim K.
& for my southern hood dudes, Lo boots were way more popping until Timbs took over.
Cats so blinded by their dislike for dude, they can't see the truth. mean.gif
I think Kanye's makes himself look like a fool at times, but that doesn't mean I can't recognize his influence.

Also, I really think everyone needs to post their age and location cause that's a huge factor in this discussion. 23.
Edit- Planoman52 beat me to it.

I am not smarter than kanye.

Age: 35 years, 363 days.

Ricky you're young and in Dallas too. Were you raised here?
Can you honestly say that you haven't seen an influx of Timberlands?
Especially among the college crowd.
I'm born and raised in Dallas and I've honestly never seen Timbs pop like they are now.
It doesn't even snow or get cold like that for us to have them on deck like that.
Maybe when velour suits and Sean John ensembles were hot and it was mainly forces then.
I want to hear from people not from New York as it's an understood staple there.
