Florida School Shooting, Over 20 Casualties

But they are white so you know, kill 20 still don’t get shot up

Won’t stop a Minneapolis cop. They blasted a middle aged white female yoga teacher here.

Anyone can get shot by the police here. Bunch of cowards running around playing cowboy.

There really needs to be much stricter psychological testing for anyone that wants to be a cop

Question...in an open carry state, if cops draw on you while you are not breaking ANY law, can you draw on them and shoot them and claim self defense?

That’s a death wish here.

We all know that wouldn’t work anyways. Police can kill a child or unarmed person and get off. No way they’d ever lose in court if they had a gun. It wouldn’t even make it to court.

They don’t want smart level headed cops.

They want people who don’t think for themselves and will blindly follow orders and not question what they are doing or if it’s morally right.

I know two truck drivers who are both ex Minneapolis police. They said it wasn’t what they signed up for and felt bad about their job so they quit. The days of the friendly neighborhood cop are gone.

I really don’t understand how it became “Shoot immediately on site at any threat”

Who do you even bother carrying a taser or pepper spray?

Does it though?

Is that honestly what MOST people want?

Because a cop was just placed on leave for not wanting to "Play Rambo" by going into a school recklessly.

I think deep down inside "we" feel safer with cops that don't give a F

Exactly. Yes.

I think that mentality works for the military

But dealing with citizens and people of all walks of life constantly takes some empathy

Because most them are *****.

They can’t accept the fact they will get shot at from time to time or be scared by a dog coming up to say hello...You’re a cop of course you’re gonna see some **** that scares you. It doesn’t mean every time you get scared you can start blind firing at what scares you.

Then that mentality spreads to all them. They are a gang plain and simple. A bunch of government funded thugs.

And that’s been done over time

The militarization of the police force started after 9/11

Why do they have full on armored vehicles and all this crazy gear?
I disagree.

The original police in THIS country were used to return runaway slaves to theit plantations.

So they are rooted in oppressing and controlling. They were not rooted in empathy/love/care.

Let's call them what they are. They are street soldiers in blue

So we just had the super bowl here.

Bruh it looked like a war zone in my neighborhood. Helicopters circling, national guard on every corner with an ar on their back posted in their humvees. You can see the stadium from my back yard. I don’t want to see that ****. What is this ‘nam?

This went on for two weeks, it definatly didn’t make me feel safe. All I can think of when I see a group of cops is them hyping each other up for a shoot out.

I’m a huge optimist

I always have hope for the best in people

I know that isn’t always the best course of action but it’s gotten me to where I am in life

I’ll answer. I don’t really believe in good cops because they would be turning in the bad ones. On top of that I know another cop who was fired for not exercising force enough. So even if you try to be a chill cop they won’t let you, so how can you be good if your boss will fire you for it?

To answe the question, I believe the cop should have went in. That’s his job.

Does a fireman leave when he’s too scared and let the people die inside. No, he mans up and does it because that’s what he signed up for.

I agree with the notion that a good cop will most likely (at some point) have to cover up BS for his co-workers. So for that reason alone, could he still be a good cop?

But then again, we ALL turn a blind eye to things our co-workers do, does that automatically make us not good at our jobs?

But we aren't asked to "protect and serve."

Even the phrase, "Protect and Serve" is an oxymoron. Initially, It didn't have poor people or colored people in mind but we somehow want them to do that.

I know I am ranting/all over the place but I just don't know where I sit on this idea of "Good Cop."

Hoping for the best in people vs. The Reality of what they really are might never cross paths. So you might be able to get through life with this mentality. Not a right or wrong thing, do whatever works for you and keeps you at ease

Yeah firemen have wayyyy more balls than most cops and cops KNOW this....firemen will state death in the eye and run into a building burning in flames trying to save lives.

Fireman have a more direct/centralized goal. Put out fires at all costs.

Police have more of a blanketed objective. "Protect and Serve." Again, at what cost? And what does that look like.

I don't think it is fair or productive to even compare the two
