New York State just became a Revolver town thanks to Cuomo VOL. super gun restriction passed.

Its a right to have "heat like that".  I'm not worried about having it on me.  I'm worried about maintaining my right to defend myself effectively.

I'm not going to defend myself against criminals with a bolt-action rifle, pump shotguns with low capacity, or gimped 5 round semi-autos.
So a revolver would not suffice?

Criminals? If you're worried about criminals then something isn't right...not trying to come off condescending but every weapon you listed could get the job done correct?

If you miss with a bolt action rifle you're screwed.  Shotgun doesn't have a large magazine capacity and the spread is nowhere near as heavy and wide as people think and there is a lot of recoil so if you don't shoot it a lot, its not hard to miss.  And a woman shot an intruder 5-6 times with a revolver while she and her kids were hiding in her attic and he walked away alive.

I want to be able to exercise the right to defend myself with what I feel is the most effective weapon.

I really don't care one bit. Zero sympathy from me for the gun enthusiast but this does very little to address the issues I'm concerned with like criminals using deadly force to commit crimes.  I've said it before and I'm sure I'll say it again, if you put a bullet inside another human being in an act that's anything other than self defense, you deserve to go to prison for the rest of your life.

sarcasm i hope?

Lived in NYC all my life...don't mind these restrictions at all. As someone said before, criminals will aquire these types of guns/clips no matter what so all this is doing is changing the rules for "regular" civilians, which is fine by me. Untrained civilians do not need high powered assault rifles...and no, training is not going to the "range" or the time you took that 1/2 an hr class with that instructor from that place. Also, i'm good on your mentally unstable nephew stealing your gun while you're asleep and taking it into the world.

Civilians are more knowledgeable about firearms than most police officers. And ironically know more about firearm laws

This dude is Rambo...

the "law abiding citizen" excuse is such bull ****.

yeah um, most of the people guilty of mass shootings were 'law abiding citizens' before they snapped right?

limiting the clips isnt enough. limit the ammo to 10 rounds per gun owner/household. problem solved.

is Texas the state with the most guns per capita? is there a correlation between guns per capital and the number of mass shootings? shouldnt we looks at that before passing more draconian laws?

it seems (legal) gun ownership doesn't usually equate to the number of gun deaths.

For example, according to this graph, Washington, DC has the most deaths by firearms, BUT according to this list, WAshington, DC is DEAD LAST as far as "NICS background checks per 100,000 residents" (think legal gun ownership).

So what that tells me right off the bat is that Washington, DC has the most gun deaths, BUT the least number of legally owned firearms. Does that mean these guns are illegal? Is Washington, DC more violent in general? Would stricter gun laws in DC even help if people are being killed with illegal guns?

yo this is a pretty important point.

The only result i see coming from these "tough" measures being passed is that more ppl will go to prison.

I'm not trying to turn this into a dry snitching forum so I'm not even going to get into this.. but a lot of you are talking about guns in NY like you know what you are talking about.  This isn't CA or AZ where you guys have huge plots of land.. people over here and in NJ use their sh*t on people not tin cans.  Why do you recreationally NEED a Call of Duty gun?

Nobody's talking about owning or banning "Call of Duty" guns.  Do some research.

I'd like proof of this please. The most part.
