Most contracts have buyouts/options at the back end which gets paid the following year.

which i understand..

its just gross to see the names on the list, and how jones, schmit did nothing for us.. and nomar has been gone for over a season now.. signed as a redsox and then retired..

i heard kevin brown had access to the team plane up until 2 years ago or so.. gross.

I don't get all the hate for Nomar.  He was a local kid, a fan favorite.  Was productive when healthy.  Had a solid 2006 season, injured in 2007 but still played, was productive when healthy in 2008.  He was brought in to keep the spot warm for James Loney, which he did.  He retired as a Red Sox, big deal, he will always be connected to the Red Sox.

It was a part of his deal that he wouldn't receive his buyout immediately.

It's part of the business.  We are not the only teams paying buyouts.

meh i see it differently..

dude was made of glass... when i had my season tix last year, this other dude with season tix wore a oakland nomar jersey when he came to town.. it was stupid. 

dude had one shining moment in my eyes and it was that 4 back to back home run deal in the ninth.. 

to each their own i guess.  lots of hype behind the dude.. sometimes i thought his wife could probably kick the ball better than he hit.
i dont think he did much but was a good moral guy guess.
