Am I acting like this is brand new or am I simply saying it is stupid?

It's stupid TO YOU, but that's how the masses judge. And it is what it is. Most stars know and take that burden. Hell even Lonzo took the blame for UCLA's performance against Kentucky. They know what time it is.

Only Bron in the past, CP0 all the time, and now Steph somehow get to be absolved of that.

I just think it is the media's way of putting a "simple" view on why a team won/loss.

No coach looks at the game that way. They know games a lost by a SERIES of events. Not just because of one player.

You are right, it is how the masses judge, but only because that is how they have been trained to view wins/losses.

Thread is just all over the place and in shambles right now. Much more than usual

So with this logic, why then do WavyCrocket and TyEhfjgfjhfh rip the Celtics for being in the playoffs 2 times with their current group and losing to the Cavs in one of them? Something isn't adding up here.

'12-'13 was the last year of the KG/Pierce/Doc era.
'13-'14 was year 1 with Stevens and a clear tank season.
'14-'15 was another tank year until they traded for Isaiah halfway through, and ended up losing to the Cavs.
'15-'16 was a 4/5 matchup with Atlanta, Avery went down in Game 1, and that was that.

Let them tell it, they've had 5-6 years of playoff disappointments. Did they not lose when they were supposed to, or does that not apply to them?
was anybody blaming IT tho?

Yeah, you.

So based on THAT logic, should we ALWAYS "excuse" a star player when they play against a superior team?

I just want to know your level of consistency

There is no consistency in this thread. Dudes talked about Currys gravity as if it's a every game thing. It showed up for the first time in a month now it's a monthly thing and I was wrong for expecting it on a nightly bases.

So what do you want to do about it? Basketball promotes individuals by far the most of any of the team sports. And therefore the stars of said sport benefit more than anyone with recognition, financially, and accolades yet the 'negative' stuff that comes with it (media scrutiny or fan judgments) should be eliminated?

What would I like to see, I would like to see actual reasons/discussions as to why teams win/lose.

Technical breakdowns. Position by Position analysis. Not the typical, "Star Player vs. Star Player" stats and blame the star player of the losing team narrative that we get.

but that might be too "technical" for the average sports fan to intake. But maybe not, because I think the average NBA fans is more educated than the NBA fan of the past.
