Since Robinette is given Venezuelans permanent legal status, when Covid dies down he needs to do a rallies in areas with high levels of Venezuelan immigrants

Let the people know that Tio Jose came through for the gang. That might pay off in a few decades

isn't an "old-school family" more of a multi-generational group in a communal setting?
Correct, old-school would be the extended family structure you just described that's persisted for 1000s of years
But you know white people like to act like everything they do is how it's always been and how it always should be
The nuclear family is a recent creation and really only applies to white western countries
This idea that it's the only legitimate family structure is certainly a bigoted one

Lee and Romney are a perfect combo to rep Utah

Romney represents the more rational Conservatism you fine in Salt Lake. Still racist, still elitist, but got a sense that folk has to find a way to live among one another so it is better if we have some sort of rational thought.

Lee represents rural Utah. All out religion fueled lunacy

I'm old enough to recall when folks didn't have to drive a fake taxi after work to keep their lives from falling apart.

"Both sides"
"Dems are just like Republicans"
"They don't care about poor people"
"NEOLIBERLISM!"
"Dems never do anything to help minorities"

is this the last assistance we can expect anytime soon, given that these items were essentially budgeted in for 2021?

I read a couple of articles stating that this would be the last assistance due to the increase of vaccinations and the slowly lowering COVID numbers.

I think this is it.

It is the last relief package we will see. But some of the aid in there will last into next year. Like the child subsidy and the increase ACA subsidies

just seems a bit early to spike the football on pulling people out of poverty...that eviction thing is a complete and total time bomb.

...but to be fair, I guess a national homelessness crisis is a bit better if all of the unhoused are fully vaccinated.

this is not just a theoretical talking point for me...the tent cities are blooming right alongside this season's flowers.

I'm not spiking the football about pulling people out of poverty. A great deal more needs to be done

I am mocking low-effort critiques of the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party has been for social democracy and anti-poverty measures for a while now.

They are nothing like the Republican party and have been so for a while.

But both siders, the right, and the socialist left peddle these talking points to whip up negative partisanship against liberals, and this bill clearly makes those talking points look dumb.

And you can tell people are having a hard time with this bill, because the usual hot-taking suspects are struggling to criticize this bill in an effective manner.

Yeah, I personally hope that assistance will continue down the road. I don't believe this economy will be anywhere near where it was pre-pandemic anytime soon.

Which Democrat voted Nay????
