I'm not spiking the football about pulling people out of poverty

I am mocking low-effort critiques of the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party has been for social democracy and anti-poverty measures for a while now.

They are nothing like the Republican party and have been so for a while.

But both siders, the right, and the socialist left peddle these talking points to whip up negative partisanship against liberals, and this bill clearly makes those talking points look dumb.

And you can tell people are having a hard time with this bill, because the usual hot-taking suspects are struggling to criticize this bill in an effective manner.

fair enough, there's not a lot to criticize about the bill and no one should be looking to...part of progressivism is recognizing progress.

Yeah, I personally hope that assistance will continue down the road. I don't believe this economy will be anywhere near where it was pre-pandemic anytime soon.

...the other part of progressivism is seeing with clear eyes how long the road will be.

This is the last relief check probably

And to be honest, if there is another one, and it uses 2020 taxes, then that one should definitely be more targeted.

The Dems need to find a way to make the ACA and child subsidies permanent though. Possibly the UI subsidy too, but the whole system should probably be nationalized
