Gotta love centrist...

But wait...

'We can't for a bill unless we know it won't raise the deficit...............instead we should vote for this bill which would raise the deficit"

One bill lobbyist hate, one bill they love.

Yet Centrist in the House and Manchin are demanding a CBO score on one of the bills to slow down its passing, but completely ignoring what the CBO said about the other one.

Yeahhh, but tell me how this is just some natural goofiness and not corporate capture

I remember being on a road trip when Obama was president and seeing billboards way outside urban centers calling him the Devil. Then, I would turn my TV on and watch these people call him the same during televised town hall meetings.
Then, the hosts would be like "how can we communicate better with these concerned voters?"
NPR even did a version of that this morning. Youngkin peddled the CRT nonsense and the first people they ran to for an on-the-ground analysis was an anti-Trump republican voter who voted for Youngkin. Why is it not more interesting to interview a McAulliffe voter about why he feels the Democratic candidate failed to win a state that was blue in 2020?

Conservative bull**** gets normalized by most media outlets every single day, from the framing of day-to-day issues to the way republican candidates get coverage, especially if they behave outrageously. And every time they shift the Overton window further right, Democrats are asked to adapt to match the new definition of what's "normal."

Meanwhile, Republicans and conservatives have executed their political objectives by pulling rules out of their asses and contradicting themselves shortly after, and nobody questioned their fitness to serve or their commitment to democracy. I have yet to see articles about Jim Jordan's legitimacy in Congress despite his involvement in the Jan 6th events, but Democrats should always be worried about a few overly educated, poorly paid, eccentric teachers.

Like I said before, that's ridiculous.
Coddling white moral outrage is the status quo for America

I lived right out of DC during Obama's first year. I saw firsthand the vile racist **** the Tea Party were saying about them

Then I saw reporters from C-SPAN, to MSNBC try to normalize it. And people like Joe Lieberman and Bernie Sanders attack Obama from left and right saying they people were just upset because he wasn't delivering for them in a certain way.

uhhh I mean yes, but you wouldn't advise a politician to tell this to their constituents right?
I would. I'm personally out of ****s to give

The proper response is to make parents understand that they and their kids' teachers are a team whose objective is to turn their children into productive, well adapted adult citizens. The most important benefit of attending school is exposure to different perspectives. By forcing schools to adapt to what parents teach at home, we are not giving children the opportunity to be in challenging situations in a controlled environment, and we are creating people who will crumble when the demands of adult life are thrown at them.

There has been a coordinated campaign to turn educators against parents, and the goal of that campaign is to turn American education into indoctrination centers controlled by right-wing philosophers. That's what should be addressed. Shift the discussion from parents vs teachers to parents and teachers for the kids.

That also means taking on the CRT issue and flipping it on the right wing messaging apparatus: reinforce the message that American history from various points of view is being taught in k-12, and don't just say that CRT is taught in grad school; insist on describing CRT with complicated/unfamiliar/formal terms anytime it's mentioned during public interviews and debates. If done correctly, anyone who hears CRT should ask themselves why teachers would talk about jurisprudence to 10-year olds, and it makes republicans sound paranoid and foolish for suggesting that's happening.

My hometown school district removed Lord of the Flies from the curriculum,
because a white student said it wasn't sufficiently anti racist or something..

You do this a lot; you observe some extreme thing you saw in Canada and then use that to make conclusions about the US. They are fairly different places…

they have created a slogan that will be used forever more to radicalized white people against the most meager police reform elements.
if this is good for a movement, what is bad???

I spent a few years on a team tasked with automating jobs away. The first thing you usually had to do was go figure out what all the people you wanted to fire were actually doing. I used to tell them that I was there to automate the low value add stuff they did to free them up to do more valuable things. That was even true for about 20% of the best people..

Messaging definitely should have been about improving law enforcement by taking away “lower value” tasks.

But people were rightfully mad. It clouded judgement.

otherwise what's the point of being a centrist?

You know, it never occurred to me that Centrists were deliberately trying to be Centrists. I always thought that they believed what they believed and they lived in a society where that happened to be in the middle.

But your question here raises the possibility that Centrists are Centrists propter se. But I see it. And it explains a lot of maddening behavior.

Thanks. I guess.

The 17-year-old son of Virginia Governor-elect Glenn Youngkin twice tried to cast a ballot on Election Day even though he is not yet eligible to vote, election officials confirm to News4. He was unsuccessful in his attempt to vote.

News4 is not naming Youngkin's son because he is a minor and has not been charged with a crime.

Really being a centrist is about vibez and sabotaging liberals for your donors

Any centrist that really wants to help people just act (or become) like liberals after a while

I guess I grew up in the narrow period where the right pretended to reject craziness. At that time it seemed like you could favor social support, but also limited government intervention in commerce.

But it’s hard to identify the center of an infinite expanse. Is it everywhere or nowhere? How do you average BBA and QAnon?

I guess by enjoying the vibez and low key corruption.

We really need young progressive candidates to motivate and inspire the young left movement. These old centrist liberals ain’t it no more. So many young people out here that don’t vote that can be mobilized by the right young progressive candidate. We need a nationwide young progressive candidate movement. That’s basically what the repubs have done.

I’m so happy that I went to private school. Anytime somebody would say something like this they’d just ask the parents to transfer the kid if they didn’t like what their son was learning.

granted I also didn’t attend a private school that was brainwashing people. If anything for a catholic education, Jesuits are progressive and they exposed me to things I wouldn’t be otherwise. Because I was pretty conservative when I was younger myself. Wish more people went through thatsort of education. It doesn’t prevent people from being wssholes when they graduate though. Scalia I as an alum of ours and kavanough also attended a DC Jesuit prep school.

I graduated from St. Stephens/St. Agnes in Northern VA and I agree with your statement. I went to school wit the now scumbag Adam Laxalt former Attorney General of Nevada. He’s now running for Congress I think. I used to party over his house every week getting ****** up. Hung around all black dudes. Ive got plenty of stories. He was a wild *** dude. Drug deals, shoot outs, you name it. All true! I was there!

Well, I didn’t see this coming at all. Was told all day via news outlets that 20 Progressive Dem’s was gonna vote no.

Either way, I’m happy, for now

Edit - 10 Republicans votes Yay and 5 Democrats voted Nay

edit 2 - 13 Republicans voted Yay. The squad voted Nay.

Infrastructure Week has returned
It's been a long time, been a long time comin'
Looks like the death of me now
But you know, there's no turning back now
This is what makes me; this is what I am
You can hate me now, but I won't stop now (real Democrats)
Cause I can't stop now, you can hate me now (c'mon)
But I won't stop now, cause I can't stop now
You can hate me now, you can hate me now

If I were to guess BBB ain't passing, if it does, not gonna be anything close to the 1.75 trillion

Watch Manchin and Sinema do some *******

He has no incentive to do the right thing now

The main bright side to this is that Biden got a major infrastructure bill passed

Something that has eluded numerous president

It was Trump's most sort after piece of legislation

ninjahood ninjahood rolling over in his Thundercat pajamas right now

Sleepy Joe did what his Suga Papi couldn't

And dwalk31 dwalk31 can shut the **** about major legislation getting passed.

No I'm not, you can find plenty of these anecdotes in america.

I mentioned one parents were complaing about in Virginia.
Louden count paid for 400k for some divirsity consultant
who told them they should look at books by Robin diangelo and Tema Okun, both have some pretty off-putting stuff in them.

apparently alexdria school board was quoting Robin diangelo on their website.

the contraversy is not totally made up.
it seems like some Virginia schools were doing stuff that might make a normie swing voter mad.

Canada and america are pretty similar, and the way they are different should make you more concerned for Democrats not less.

Liberal party in Canada has leftist party called the NDP.

So they can always leave all the un popular far left stuff with the NDP and position themselves as the reasonble center left moderates. Also our political geography favours center left moderates.

It's harder for Democrats because moderates and far left people have to share the same party.
