The smartest move, politically, for the GOP is to impeach and convict Trump right now. They would win in 2018 and have Mike Pence to sign their terrible bills into law.

On one hand, I think liberals will learn all the wrong lessons from Trump getting impeached. The Dem base's thinks one election was stolen from them, but their failure in showing up in elections has allowed the GOP to steal so much more. I would have preferred for people to fight him tooth and nail in the streets and vote out the GOP in 2018. I fear that if Trump is gone, so many people will tune back out of politics and fallback into their lazy ********: "Both parties are just as bad", "voting is pointless", "etc", and the GOP will retain power. Maybe just show up every 4 years and demand miracles from the Dems, and get frustrated when they don't get it.
