***Official Political Discussion Thread***

The Democrats spent the 2010's not caring much about state politics and it cost them as many States did voter suppression and gerrymandering.

or spent the 2010s running against the ACA, a Republican-Lite healthcare plan that conservative political leaders decided they had to oppose and demagogue at all costs

dwalk31 dwalk31 think they gave out pieces of paper with economics on it here?

He did lie, first to protect both himself and Trump, later to protect Trump specifically.

Sondland’s supposed September 9 call that Trump and his lawyers cited during the trial as exculpatory evidence never happened.

Sondland fabricated that call. The actual phonecall, which took place on September 7, was inculpatory.

There was no call on September 9 where Trump supposedly told Sondland “no quid pro quo” and ‘I don’t want anything from Ukraine.’
Trump told Sondland “no quid pro” on the September 7 call, which also included Trump laying out his demand that Zelensky should personally announce the Biden probe in public.
Trump added that it wouldn’t be sufficient for the Prosecutor General to make the public announcement, it had to be Zelensky and he should be willing to do so himself.

In other words, the exculpatory part of the Sept 7 call was quickly overwhelmed by the inculpatory part.
Sondland fabricated a whole separate call where Trump supposedly only made exculpatory statements.

rexanglorum rexanglorum too, correct? Fully automated luxury communism, here we come!

Yep, I have more economics education than Mnuchin does so yeah, we're going full lux auto socialism, in space.

What most conservatives mean by "economic" is a set of doctrines that hold capital as more important than humanity and fulfilling unmet human needs. In many cases, the people whom conservatives consider smart on economics have little or no education in economics. Conservatives worship money and they think that economics is also some secret to quickly accumulate money. So people like Kudlow and others usually got bachelors degrees circa 1970, wandered into a brokerage on wall street back when working on wall street was much less prestigious or well compensated than it is today. By the 1980's they were making lots of money because neoliberalism prioritized financial sector profits over everything else. Then you have a lot o wealth so you must know how the economy works. It's basically a secular version of the prosperity gospel.

Conservatives can barely handle the fact that center left and highly credentialed economists like Paul Krugman exist and they turn to ash when I bring up the fact that Richard Wolff, a very well credentialed, communist economist exists.

Even when we look past the warped conservative definition of economics and look at what economics actually is, there are major limits on what it can do. A bachelors degree in economics is notions about elasticity and scarcity and how people make decisions. A masters degree program goes more in depth and explains the concepts in more mathematical notation. a PhD program involves using your masters degree to do research and very in depth writing on a very specific subject.

What the study of economics cannot teach is what society's priorities should be nor does it teach one how to adjust public policy so as to compensate for a maldistribution of resources.

Surely this is fake news. President Donald Jenius Trump told us the black population is doing the best they've ever done in history! Jobs are up! Votes are locked!

Jobs are up. Surely you don’t believe the homelessness problem in America started with the election of Trump.
