My original post = Cuba sends Doctors to fight Coronavirus. Remember kids, Cuba = bad.

Who is strawmanning who here?

My standpoint is no nation is good or bad. PEOPLE are.

A nation / country is MUCH more than its Government.

Again - my experiences are not to be diminished in favor of yours or anyone else's.

When the people who fled Cuba want to talk to me about the people who fled plantations then we ready to have a conversation.

The issue is not complex or conflated at all - unless you want it to be for some reason.

Cuban doctors are not choosing by themselves to go to these countries. The Cuban government are sending them. Cuban has socialized medicine, all the doctors for the the government. So commending the fact Cuban doctors are being sent to other countries, is commending an action by the Cuban government.

No one made an indictment against all of the Cuban people. I even said the Cuban government fails the Cuban people. I made a clear distinction at who I was speaking of....

I am also in a black man in America

I grew up as a black boy in the Caribbean, away from US **** talk about Cuba

Many of the friends and family have travel to Cuba for many reason including healthcare

Cuba sent doctors to my island to help out, for which I am appreciative

But on aggregate, the Cuban government ain't ****.

The Cuban people, including the black Cuban people, deserve better than the bull**** they get.

A whataboutism about America doesn't change that. Criticism for one can coexist with criticism for the other.

-So yeah, you are strawmanning again. No one is defending America, no one is defending the hypocrites that talk about other nations at the same time excusing America's dirt. You keep trying to act like we are to make your argument.

-You want to say no nation is good or bad, but you pushed back on @dacomeup first post with that Farrakhan video in which he points out all the dirt the nation of America did, you say agree with him. You didn't say Farrakhan is wrong to conflate the government with the people, even though cited action sanctioned by the US government, you didn't say America is more than its government's actions. Farrakhan's punchline was all nations have blood on their hands, including America, so that no one can grab the moral high ground, which is different than the stance you claim to have.

-The US sends tons of aid around the world every year. If someone tried to insinuate that criticism of America was not valid because of an example of a good act. Me, you, and many others would take issue with that because it doesn't paint the proper picture of America. Welp, Cuba sending doctors, is a great act but doesn't paint the appropriate image of Cuba.

-I am sure many Cubans that fled the country would love to have that discussion, including the tons of black Cubana. Whose ancestors worked on slave plantations in Cuba, whose great grandparents lived in Pre-Castro times and saw rampant inequality that fell on racial lines, and experienced massive amounts of discrimination. Whose grandparents, so Castro comes to power and promises a ton of ****, to fix the problems of the nation. But instead got drunk on power and made moves to keep himself in power even if that includes commending much of the people to poverty, enforce his rule with violence, and let racism fester in the country. Racial inequality is very high in Cuba as we speak.

The American people deserve better than the American government. The Cuban people deserve better than the Cuban government.

Black Americans deserve much better from the US government and the white community in America. Black Cubans deserve a much better Cuban government and the white community in Cuba.

Agreed.

I said no nation is good or bad. Farrakhan and Wallace were speaking of Governments "the Government of Nigeria is...." A nation is much more than its Government.

US cornonvirus response vs Cuba's coronavirus response is and was always the subject and only subject of my post.

Everything else is literally a deflection, distraction, or strawman.

Facts do not support this narrative.

"In 2016, the majority of Cuban-Americans supported a candidate that made anti-immigration a cornerstone of his campaign — a choice that is difficult to reconcile with the behavior of other Latino voters."

"Exit polls for the greater Cuban-American population in Florida, for example, indicate that a disproportionate amount of Cuban-Americans supported Trump compared to other Latino groups. While 54 percent of Cuban-Americans supported Trump, only 35 percent of Latinos nationwide did. Similarly, in the 2018 Florida gubernatorial election, Republican Ron DeSantis won twice as many Cuban-American votes as his Democratic opponent Andrew Gillum. A nearly identical percentage of Cuban-Americans also chose current Republican Gov. Rick Scott over Democrat Bill Nelson in the Florida senate race. The Cuban vote was solidly red in 2016 and 2018 despite the trend of Latino voters being reliably blue."

Younger Cubans maybe, but the older ones you talking about? Not so much....

"A cursory analysis would seem to show that the 2016 and 2018 election results demonstrate a sudden reversal of Cuban-American voters’ decades-long shift toward voting Democratic. However, an analysis in the context of voting patterns within the Cuban-American demographic shows a different trend. The 2016 and 2018 results may be the by-product of a generation of Cuban-Americans that will lose their electoral power to younger voters in the near future. These reliably red Cuban immigrants came to America before 1980 and witnessed the worst years of the Castro regime. They were naturalized easily thanks to the “wet foot, dry foot” policy and they currently make up a large portion of Cuban voters. However, these voters are older than the average American, and the younger Cuban-Americans have shown that they do not hold the same beliefs as their parents and grandparents and are more likely to be wary of conservative politics: Cuban-Americans under 50 consistently vote blue, as they did in 2012."

"Until now, the GOP has held onto the majority of the Cuban vote by appealing to anti-socialist and anti-communist sentiments of the first wave of Cuban immigrants. Yet, as constituents with these opinions age and Cuban-Americans care less about these ideologies, the GOP will struggle to retain the Cuban-American vote."
