This isn’t bad advice. My company was a consultant on his DC hotel project and his team threatened to not pay invoices so many times we started requiring money upfront for additional services, which is unheard of in my industry for that type of project.

One of them (William Burck) had already represented some Trump associates like Don McGahn and Reince Priebus in the Mueller probe but those two are notably normal and professional people. Burck probably didn't expect Bannon to go off the rails to the extent of sabotaging his lawyers' work on his bail conditions. Clearly he didn't care that his client was engaged in all kind of buffoonery but no lawyer of his stature is going to deal with a client sabotaging the work of the lawyers.
