I know. Don't trip. Interesting guy. Although it says nothing about the sub-type of cancer or his treatment method, so I can't really comment on it. Umm what I can say is, I never said we couldn't treat and cure some sub-types of cancer. Of course we can there are many 5+ year survivors of cancer. But, there is no one drug cure all and I don't think there ever will be one at least not in our life-time.
he had lymphoma

if it was up to me, i wouldn't waste time and resources on a cure all, i think individual cancers should be attacked, individually
laugh.gif

it seems sort of far fetched to come up with one pill that'll cure any type of cancer
Do you know what kind of lymphoma? Or what his treatment method was? I mean shouldn't he have shared that with the world? I'm too lazy to look it up myself.
grin.gif

Well most traditional chemotheraputics try to attack all forms of cancer by just atttacking rapidly growing and dividing cells. So I mean technically they kinda are like cure alls, but we all know that they don't work for everything.

With what we know today it's impossible.

Cable tech:

. When in reality the line somewhere has deteriorated, a splitter has gone bad, the fitting at the tap is sucked out or water has gotten in due to the initial installer not putting a weather bushing on the tap. AKA too much work, "i'll swap the box and continue to do so until the customer escalates it to corporate and they have someone else re-wire the place"

-We zip tie the drop to the strand. If the ziptie clip isn't facing down, a squirrel will eat through that %!+$. It's like candy to rodents

-IF you're at the end of your city, your signal is naturally going to be weak, it's common sense. Amplifiers, even house amps, will only lead to other problems. In those cases leave cable ASAP because the problem will never be fixed.

- Please thank anyone that is bagging groceries for you. I guarantee you that they hate their jobs and they hate every second of bagging. Saying a simple "thank you very much" goes a long way.
- Some people actually tip baggers that will walk their groceries out to their car. Even $2 makes a huge difference and makes that person's day.

the first one was complete opposite where I worked, we all hated when they asked for paper it took way too long. Everything else is 100% true though

If I had my way..I'd never accept $50/$100 bills at all.

A few of mine Walgreens(Photo and Cashier)

- If nobody's at the photolab, don't just stand at the photo counter like an idiot expecting somebody to magically appear. The photo tech is more than likely nearby..just grab their attention, they can't always keep an eye on the photo lab..they have floor tasks to do also.

- Just because it says one hour photo doesn't mean it'll always be ready at EXACTLY one hour. That's just a base time. They normally take 1 1/2-2 hours. We receive hundreds of film rolls everyday.

- DO NOT come in 20 minutes early of the promise time and expect the photos to be done already/make up some phantom time totally different from what it said on the claim ticket. I'm not gonna stop everything I'm doing and rush just because you want special treatment. You're just gonna keep standing there until it's ready.

- Don't wait till we are finished scanning everything to realize you don't have enough money and take your sweet time going to the car to get more. A long line builds up and other people in line get mad at me thinking I did something wrong. Double check before you actually come in the store..it works wonders.

- Just because the higher ups are very obsessed about customer service, that doesn't mean you're entitled to everything.  Don't come in expecting to be treated like royalty...or else you will just be ignored.

- We really DO NOT care when you talk about what items are on sale when you put them on the counter. We work here EVERYDAY we don't need to be reminded about what's on sale.

- If you arrogantly just toss your money on the counter, expect your change to be tossed back at you.

- They say that we can't really argue with the customers or kick them out, but if it's clear that you're just trying to be a problem...you're fair game.

- Don't try to talk over us or the customer we're already helping out just because you have a question or want help..that's considered rude...and we'll just ignore you after a while if you don't shut up and wait your turn. We can't help everybody at the same time.

- If we're off the clock, please leave us alone..we're trying to go home, not waste my off time helping you.  That's when we just pretend not to hear anything and keep walking.

- Lastly.....THE CARD MACHINE IS ALREADY IN ENGLISH, STOP PRESSING ENGLISH BEFORE YOU SWIPE THE CARD. Sometimes I'll just lie and say that it's saying your pin was incorrect and make you do it again..solely because of that stupid mess..

target security:

-if youre trying to steal something, if you get to the parking lot youre in the safe zone. security is prohibited from pursuing shoplifters once they're past the target sidewalk.

-the undercover guy is usually wearing a collared shirt

-undercover/security cannot follow you into the bathroom

- you cannot be aprehended until you reach the door

aeropostale:

-items were never sold at regular price. they label something a certain price but once it hits the floor its immediatley on sale or there's a promotion. it gives the illusion that youre saving money when youre not.

-most mall stores excluding department stores are PROHIBITED from trying to stop shoplifters. you can take anything you want. its actually cheaper to let shoplifters go then deal with potential lawsuits that are involved with accusing people.

What job do you have? interesting info post more.

Some jobs when I was younger:

Arcade:
Claw games are nearly impossible to win, We stack it up as tight as we can. Penny/ Nickel mover machines are all rigged. If you're nice, we will open up the coin slot and give you unlimited credits. We would have free lunches, small items, all on the company. At night, when we do close, we grab coins from the games from the night before to even it out.

Safeway:
Be courteous, if you aren't, your groceries will be bagged with your non food items and thrown in the car and will most likely be smushed, ripped open, etc.
Always ask for double bag.
Brand names and store brand products are the same. Buy the cheaper version.
Use straws for your pop cans (any cans)
If you work there and want to eat something for free, ding/ drop the can so it can be brought to the backroom.
144 cans is the daily limit to cash in your cans. $7.20 lol
Come in with a rowdy group and buying beer, you are being watched like a hawk & every single person will get carded.
tired.gif

We are nice to you because we have secret shoppers until 8:30 PM

Call Centers a couple of years ago
Verizon: Don't call when you have loud noises in the background, we will DC you the moment we hear you. Every call is recorded, not some, EVERY. Ask to speak to a supervisor nicely or be on hold after a lengthy time and DC you then let you start from step 1. Be nice at first, tell us your issue, get it handled (get the confirmation #) then go off on us. We can't undue credits. We have all your info including full credit card numbers, SSN. we notate every call & we are free to offer up to $150 credit. Supervisors have $200- 250. Want to get more credit? THREATEN TO CANCEL SERVICE/ call almost during closing time or both. If you are a corporate account/ or have more than 5 lines of service, we order free phones on YOU and ship it to a nearby abandoned house.
grin.gif
Los Angeles, CA had/ has the worst service in the country but had/ has the most customers. Complain at the store? They will ask you to call us. Threaten to complain about us to the retail stores? We will notate your account with some BS after you end the call and the moment you walk in, you already lost.
laugh.gif
Store reps are lazy and don't care about your issue, they are there to make commission. We can't talk about religion, sports, or politics; so don't ask us about the lakers. We just want to resolve your issue and get on to the next call. Verizon doesn't care about Customer service, see their auto payment kiosk?
roll.gif

Sprint: If you want discount, let us know the email address of the company and we will comment it, no VERIFICATION will ever be needed. takes up too much time to verify. If you want to terminate without ETF (sprint only), find a dead zone somewhere in a rural state, city (we don't verify it) Want the nicest customer service? Ask to be transferred to the Portland call center. Most of the major cell phone companies are contracted out of Portland with the same company and their number one target is great service lol. Call centers have the most turnover rates, but if you don't get butt hurt easily and can sway decisions, you can make bank.
pimp.gif
We use your credit score to determine "you" the moment you call.
indifferent.gif

Telemarketing: Tell us politely to take you off the no call list. If you are rude, it goes into a urgent queue and we will bug you at the earliest/ latest time.
eek.gif

US BANK HQ:
We pocket cash. Please use checks in your deposit envelopes.
We wrongfully denied a former boxing champion his funds due to an error on our end. he was pissed! He bit an ear.

last job:
Oregonian residents, your precious tax dollars are going towards elderly, disabled, welfare clients to take transportation trips to anywhere within a 20 mile radius for medical/ non medical reasons. I've seen 70+ year old clients go to the adult store at 2am,  21 yr old kids chauffered to the bar/ club. Clients driven one block away from their home to grab their pharmacy and they don't have any medical issues. SMH!

hmm lets see..I've had quite a few jobs but doing Valet years ago would be fun to list.

-Inspect your cars before you leave. With most companies, they are 100% not liable for any damage done to your car the moment you leave the parking lot/property..people fail to see the sign every time/use it to their own discretion.

-for a nice 4/5 star hotel, the sucking up will commence for that extra tip, and even so the visitors are really generous
happy.gif

-for a nice 4/5 star hotel, if you have a nice whip, valets will take their time and pictures will be taken of them in the car.

-i'm sure the same goes down in restaurants..if you start complaining or yappin' at the mouth with NO legitimate reason, your property will get messed with..every group of valets has their one wacked out dude...keying cars, stealing valuables, popping the hood, etc etc etc..it all goes down..

-when it is absolutely busy with lines of people, valets are more than often trying their hardest, so all of negative remarks and comments will make it worse for your situation

-every group of valets has that 1 dude who does NOT know how to drive manual..he will practice on your car, believe me.

Considering most technical fields, including engineering, are constructed of international students, you should not be surprised.

English is very rarely their first language.

im curious to know why you say this?
i have read that we HAVE found numerous cures for cancer and even HIV/AIDS but the gov. wont let it be released because were over populated...i know this is on some over the top +%$, doesn't mean i believe in it
laugh.gif
Read below. Cancer is multi-factorial, there is no cure all, but we do have treatments that works for some sub-types. HIV/AIDS is very hard to cure because the virus is always mutating.

You need to stop listening to or going to where ever you are getting that info from. Bad source. lol we DO NOT have a cure for all cancer sub-types and we do not have a cure for all forms of HIV/AIDS.

happy.gif

This is NOT true. You should know cancers are caused by a diversity of factors genetic, environmental, and viral. We already have "vaccines" for certain cancers. I believe with research in molecular bio/ immunology researchers can develop specific chemicals that help our immune system specifically target cancerous cells with minimal harm to our body.

Nothing is impossible in science, it just takes time.
ohwell.gif
Well, just as you said it's a multi-factorial disease. We do have cures for some and treatment to prevent some such as vaccines for HPV, but we will never cure "cancer" as in a one cure all drug because it's multi-factorial. Too many causes and too many differing abnormal genetic expression patterns to have a cure all.

That's what I meant, but just wanted to simplify it.

So, we might, but not in our lifetime.
One universal cause of most cancers has to do with the integrity of the cell cycle....if we can develop  a drug that stabilizes it for life, we may be able to prevent all forms of cancer for good.

Good luck finding a drug that stabilizes cell proliferation in only cancer cells and not your normal rapidly proliferation cells. Chemotherapeutics already targets rapidly proliferating cancer cells, but we can see that it only goes so far. Remember cancer cells are still your cells, just out of control. Even a slow growing cancer cell can soon wreck havoc if you do not target its other needs besides cell cycle induction. Although you could survive longer the cancer cells still have the ability to break through the basement membrane because of no contact inhibition and will metastasize.
LOL you completely missed the point......this is a preventative measure I suggested. A lot of cancers are caused by mutations in genes that govern the cell cycle check points eg. P53/ cyclins etc. This drug would be employed way before our cells become cancer cells.

No, man I get your point. It's just stabilizing the cell cycle is not going to prevent cancer, it might prevent the uncontrolled growth which is a big help, but won't stop you from having genomic mutations that always occur randomly. Cancer is caused by an accumulation of genetic mutations that hit certain genes to give the cancer cell uncontrolled growth, and immortality. You not only need hits to Ras and p53 or other cell cycle controlling genes, but the cancer cell needs activated telomerase, non-responsiveness to apoptosis, non-functioning Rb, angiogenesis, no contact inhibition, etc... Stabilizing the cell cycle is a large help, but not the only factor that can attribute to tumor formation.

Plus I was saying what kind of drug you going to take to "stabilize" the cell cycle when many many many different cells in your body have slow growth while others have rapid growth? Stabilizing all of them would cause rapidly growing cells to slow down and you would have many problems.

Get it? Or am I missing something? Your comments are welcomed so keep em coming. Its thoughts like that, that keep me and many others trying to find a miracle cure.
This is exactly what i'm suggesting, finding drugs that specifically "prevent mutations" in oncogenes and proto-oncogenes. I still think this can be a possibility in the future. I didn't mean stabilize, like stop...but stabilize like keep it functional.
