But I feel like celebrities, especially ones that have been celebs since children, don't have to grow up. That is, they can act as teenagers and indulge in whatever it is that they want, whatever vices that they want, because there isn't anyone that can tell them no. As a result, they never have to grow up.
They also have to appeal to children and teens, especially Hip-Hop and R&B musicians in order to succeed. So you have to (And I use "have to" loosely) dress like a child, act like a child, perform in front of children, and while they grow older...their fans do too so in order for them to stay relevant they have to continue to appeal to the youth, making celebrity a very tricky situation that teeters on endorsing pedophilia and stunted growth.
Well a lot of them come from backgrounds with traumas and abused as children so your brain development is affected. Depending on your lack of resilience and being prone to maladaptive behaviour and patterns to cope with the stress and traumas, this shapes you physiologically in how you respond to the environment as an effect, but also to cope and survive. So your growth is stunted. Some become addicted to substances, some develop mental illnesses, some develop antisocial personality disorders, such as sociopathy or even more severe, psychopathy.
Unfortunately, R.Kelly's traumas have made him a psychopath - egotistical traits, disconnected, disinhibited, impaired remorse and guilt, lack of empathy. He also had enablers and the opportunity to engage his psychopathy and criminal sexual deviancy and behavior.
Unfortunately, you cannot rehabilitate people like him. We don't have the advancement of science yet to change someone with his type of wired brain. But he deserves to go to jail for his crimes and be locked up for life so he doesn't do this to other women anymore.
